Bette walked into the University she was now a professor at, Art History.  This was not something she ever thought she would be doing certainly not at the age of 28; she had a much different plan for herself.  But life has dealt her some bad hands and she was trying to make the best out of it. So here she was on her first day, she was to meet with the Dean, get a tour of the campus and sit in on a meeting with the other faculty in the art department.  
The tour was everything she expected it to be, not all that exciting, next up was the faculty meeting. Bette walked into a room filled with people all over the age of 45, clearly they had been here a long time and clearly she was not going to have much in common with these people.  

Dean Phyllis: (leaned over to whisper) “I know they all seem old and not in your circle but let me introduce you to Tina, I think you two will get along well.”
Bette: (trying to be polite) “I’m sure they are all nice people.”
Phyllis: walking over to Tina: “Tina Kennard, this is Bette Porter, Bette is the new Art History professor, and Tina teaches a few classes in our Film department.”
Tina: (holding out her hand) “Hi Bette nice to meet you, is this your first day?”
Bette: “Yes, just getting to know my surroundings”
Phyllis: “Ok well I’m going to get this thing started, Tina would you mind filling Bette in on what she needs to know during the meeting?”
Tina: “of course” (turning to Bette) “Here why don’t you sit here, I’ll move my bag”
Bette: “Oh thanks.”

The meeting went on with Tina filling Bette in on some of things they were talking about, but mostly giving her the inside scoop on most of the other faculty.  At times Bette had to suppress her giggles at Tina’s wordy and humorous telling of the department’s gossip.  Finally the meeting came to an end.
Tina: “Well now that is over, would you like to grab a cup of coffee downstairs in the café with me?”
Bette: (looking at her watch) “Um, sure I have 25 minutes.”
Tina: smiling “ok great, the coffee isn’t great but it does its job.”
