    Chapter 51

    Bette

There were flurries of activity going on in different areas of the house the next morning as we woke to a house full of unexpected guests. Typically under these circumstances, even when we had to go to work, Tina would have been up making breakfast and ensuring that everyone was taken care of. She was still emotionally drained from the previous couple of days and didn’t make that kind of effort. James was the first to leave. We had meetings scheduled throughout the day and he had to prepare the meeting room and ensure that the food was ready at the appointed time. He thanked us, wished a pleasant visit to Tina’s parents then scurried out. Her parents left too after obtaining directions to the studio and profusely thanking us for a wonderful day and the opportunity to spend some time with us and Angie.  Tina and I finally had a few minutes to just sit together alone and talk over cups of coffee.

    “It’s all a little surreal isn’t T?”

“You mean my parents, us living together, us being engaged, my father not being my father….yes Babe it certainly is. But it is all good. As scary as it all is, it’s still wonderful. I am   so happy and happier yet that you and I are in this all together.”

“So am I. You know, your parents are nicer than I thought that they would be. They adore Angie. I was thinking that maybe you would want this all to sink in before contacting Luke. You’ve dealt with a lot in a short period of time.”

“Last night after you fell asleep, I laid there thinking and for the first time since all this began with my parents I truly felt as if I had forgiven them. I will never forget what’s happened but I’m not going to live waiting for them to mess up. They’ve witnessed what they will lose. I lose nothing that I’ve not lost before but their lost is immeasurable. I do need to take some time to move on with them before bringing Luke into the picture. I also want to spend some time just being your fiancée and live in partner. Babe it all has been such a whirlwind, I want to make sure you know how happy you make me.”

A new baby, a wedding, and adding on to the house all at the same time. But they have talked about it and will continue to do so it should be alright for them. Those kinds of things just tend to be a tad bit stressful.
