Without Tim – Part 51
Shane, Carmen, and Mark’s apartment.
They have slept in separate beds. It is the morning after and Carmen has entered Shane’s room. Shane apologizes for inspiring Carmen’s, ”fucked up,” dreams. It is good that they can get through their tension now as soon they will both be joining other friends for a plane trip. In the living room, Mark answers the phone upon it ringing.
Mark ”Hello?”
Tina ”Hey, Mark. This is Tina.”
Mark ”Hey, ready for the big flight today?”
Tina ”That’s why I was calling. I’m not gonna be able to make it. Angelica’s got a cold and I shouldn’t take her on the plane. Uh-oh…I better go. Angelica needs me.”
Mark can hear the baby crying over the phone.
Mark ”It’s cool. Handle your business and give the little one a hug for Uncle Mark.”
Tina ”I will. Tell everybody I said hey and I’m sorry.”
L.A.X. Executive Terminal.
One of the perks of flying with Helena Peabody is that it is a private flight. Lara drives with Dana riding shotgun and Alice, Mark, Carmen, and Shane in the back. They emerge from Dana’s Mercedes-Benz, the same that she had won in the tournament earlier in the year. Once at the terminal, Alice announces where it is they are going. The destination is the Women’s Basketball League Championship Game between Houston and San Jose. They are joined by Helena and Dylan, who appear to be forming into a romantic couple.
Aboard the Peabody private jet, Helena sits across from Dylan, touching hands. Shane and Carmen sit across from one another across the aisle from Helena and Dylan. Behind Shane and Helena are Dana and Lara sitting across from one another and Alice and Mark seated across from each other as well. Dana and Lara are separated by a table. Ditto for Mark and Alice.
Lara ”I admit, I don’t pay as much attention. Is this the same as the W.N.B.A?”
Mark ”No, two different leagues. The W.B.L’s kinda like the spunky underdog, but teams like the Lightning and Mustangs have great crowd support. In Houston, the Mustangs have become just as popular as the Comets, if not more. One of the cool things about the W.B.L. is that their postseason is all single elimination.”
