Woman of My Dreams
Chapter 13
The flight home was uneventful. Bette was anxious and nervous by the time the jet landed in LA. Tina sensed this and simple placed her hand over Bette’s. She stroked her palm and placed it on her lips for a kiss. “It is going to be alright Bette. Kit promised not to tell the girls that we were coming home so we would have time for you to get adjusted to being back home. So, it will just be Kit and Angie when we get home.”
Bette simple smiled at her and placed her head on Tina’s shoulder. “Thanks for taking care of that T. It’s not that I don’t want to see the girls. I just need time to get settled in again at home. Although my memory has returned, it still feels strange thinking about going home. I guess I am just a bit nervous.”
“Well there is nothing to be nervous about babe. There is just a little girl who can’t wait to hug her mommies waiting for us at home. But, you better watch your ribs when Kit gets a hold of you. She might break them with that bear hug of hers.” Tina laughed.
Bette laughed too. “Yea, I remember my sis’ hugs and those were just when she hadn’t seen me for a week or two this time it’s been months.”
The captain announced they were about to land and asked them to fasten their seatbelts. When the plane came to a halt outside the private gate, Peggy looked at Bette and smiled “welcome home Bette. Now let’s get you home to that little girl. I will have someone deliver you paintings to the gallery later this week.”
“Thank you so much Peggy. I don’t know what we would have done without you.”
“It was my pleasure dear. Now let us give you a ride home.” With that, they disembarked the jet and proceeded to the limo waiting on the runway.
The limo pulled in their driveway and came to a stop. The driver came around to open their door. Tina was out first and reached back to help Bette out. They smile at one another and say goodbye to Peggy and Helena. As the driver goes to unload their luggage, they make their way to the front door. Before they could get the key in the door, Kit pulls it open and gathers Bette into a giant bear hug. “Hey Kit, don’t break my ribs!” Bette laughs.
