    Chapter 16

    Bette picked herself up off the floor and barricaded herself in her room. She locked the door and buried her head in her pillow. She was afraid that if she pulled out of it to even breathe some one would pop out with a camera announcing she’d been Punk’d. She heard a knock on the door.

    “Mom?”

    A small voice was heard from the other side of the door. She couldn’t find the strength to look at her daughter right now. She couldn’t find the strength to even pull herself from the bed to open the door. Suddenly she heard a sharp click. The door swung open and she felt three pairs of hands on her body.

    “Bette, baby are you okay?”

    “Alice just leave me alone right now.”

    “Bette I won’t. She left us too. She’s just afraid right now.”

    “Afraid of what? I’m not going to hurt her. I just want to see her. To be in her presence.”

    “Trust me when I say this Bette, she wants the same thing; she’s just not ready yet.”

    Bette sat up and looked at Alice with teary eyes.

    “Why? I just want to see her. To tell her how sorry I am. To beg for her forgiveness. Anything.”

    Dana was the next to speak. She looked into Bette’s eyes and saw a weak, helpless Bette. It was something she’d only once before and that was when Tina left.

    “Bette, sweetie. She’ll come around when she’s ready. Don’t push her or you’ll push her away.”

    “I’ve already done that.”

    “No mom, I don’t think you have.”

    Ashley started to rack her brain. Thinking of all the reasons why Tina would come back to L.A. when she had a perfect life in New York.

    “Baby what are you talking about?”

    “Think about it. She’s back in L.A., but why?”

    “Honey there could be a million reasons why.”

    “Yah and they’re all laying on this bed crying their eyes out.”

    “Ashley, I don’t know that, and I don’t know if I can compromise that much.”

    “Oh shut up Porter! You know very well you’d do anything for Tina.”

    Alice interrupted.

    “Al, I would, but would the same go like ways?”

    “Bette get your head out of your ass and quit pondering all the reasons why she might hate you, and start thinking about all the reasons why she loves you! Fuck Porter you’re such an pessimist.”

    2. Amen, sister brwnsuga and Alice. Bette she loves you so much and wants to be back with you. Ashley should remember that Tina told her she loves Bette so much and wants her back. She just couldn’t see her right now. I think they are both scared out of their minds. They need to give in and at least meet and say hello. Then go from there. They of course, need to talk, then express their love. Thanks for posting. Do we get more tonight? Hope so. PPS

    3. Bette needs to get over herself and stop acting like such a loser. For Christ sakes, let it go and move on. If Tina wants to run away for many years and only now wants to talk to her, she can bloody well make the first move. Just because Bette cheated, it didn’t mean she had to run away without saying goodbye to anyone and cut all ties with everyone. They might be made for each other, but Bette shouldn’t just bend over for her.

Ash really does have her head screwed on straight and can see the purpose of Tina’s return.Yes, both Bette and Tina need to open up and talk about their past and everything that has happened since.Tina has taken a big first step in returning to LA. Now I hope Bette can give her the space and time to sort things out before they meet again.Perhaps a good old fashioned letter romance would be a starting point, then some phone calls before they meet face to face.Whatever happens they just belong together and have to get on and deal with it all.Happiness has to be fought for and won.
