“I just can’t see anything good coming out of you talking to her right now, Dana,” Lara muttered. She’d come home just a few minutes ago from a long day in the Planet’s kitchen, and after the day she’d had, Dana’s news about Alice’s visit wasn’t sitting very well.
Dana’s twinge of annoyance was evident in her voice. “I’m not talking to her right now, Lara. We agreed that it wasn’t a good idea to really do anything one-on-one for the time being. But even if we had, I don’t see how it’s really any of your concern. You knew how close Alice and I were when we first got together. I’m not just going to let her keep getting worse if there’s something I can do to help.”
“I understand that, Dana. But when we first got together, you and Alice were just friends. Then you got into a relationship, and you can’t tell me she hasn’t changed.”
Dana threw her arms up in exasperation. “Yeah, okay, she’s changed, all right? So have I, so have you. That doesn’t mean that I’m just going to forget about all the years before she and I got together. I know you’re not happy about it, but it’s something you’ll just have to deal with…I want Alice to be a part of my life. Maybe not right now, but dammit Lara, she’s my best friend. Okay?”
This really wasn’t how she’d wanted the conversation to go, but keeping Alice’s visit a secret seemed really low. Besides, if there was one thing Dana was tired of, it was hiding everything important from the people she was supposed to be closest to. So she’d been honest, and she had to concede that she understood Lara’s reaction. She didn’t appreciate it, but she understood it. Lara was jealous, as much as she was trying to hide it, and Dana couldn’t help but be reminded of how things had ended with Alice. Still, she didn’t think she deserved Lara’s anger when all she was trying to do was help her friend.
Lara sighed and walked over to the couch, putting her arms around her girlfriend. “Look, I’m sorry. I know you care about her, I’m just worried that she’s going to take your offer of help the wrong way…I mean, the way she’s been acting lately makes it pretty hard not to see that she’s still in love with you.”

Awesome freakin’ job! I loved the update. “That doesn’t mean that I’m just going to forget about all the years before she and I got together.” Thank you! Someone realizes this! If only an unnamed person would have realized this before everything went kapooie. I love that Dana and Alice are becoming more comforatable around each other. I’ve got to admit, I really love the fact that Dana seems quite jealous of Helena. :) I hope Dana continues to let Alice in. I think that you truly have a grasp on the characters. You write them very well. Great job. I can’t wait for more.
Keep it up…this has great potential…if only Chaiken took it in this direction!
I love this fanfic and I really want you to keep Dana alive like IC should have done! This is def how season 3 should have gone down from a danish perspective, that is if they had to break up in the first place, can you tell I’m still bitter about the whole of season 3 lol?! anyway great chap and please post soon! xx
I loved how strong Dana was with Lara when they were talking about Alice. It’s realistic that they’re trying, but still aren’t quite comfortable with each other. I hope you won’t follow the death route that IC took. I’m much more interested in your take on how things could have gone.

i may be able to re watch season 3 after all… you have a great sense of Alice and Dana- your conversations and reactions are dead on. Your take on season 3 remedies so much of what was stolen from their personalities this year by the writers. Can’t wait to see where you take us. THANKS!
this story really breaks my heart. its just so damn hard for both of them and i feel their pain. damn. please continue. i really love it. i wish it was S3! i dont know whats next but i am very anxious to find out. :)
