Shane smiled “If there is anything I cam do – I mean it Tina “
“I know you do – they are sleeping for now – tell me how you are “
“Still drinking too much “
“Still taking drugs and getting out of your face ?”
“Not so much “
“Shane – I don’t want to make an enemy of you – Jenny can be the most annoying freaking woman I have ever met – and you have never been anything but kind and loyal to Bette, Angie and I “
Shane looked away and kicked her feet against the pavement. Tina waited for Shane to react
“I know – and I know that I was acting like an idiot. I do understand what point you were making and I know that you are my friends. You and Bette are the closet thing to a family that I have ever had and families do fall out “
“I wouldn’t have said what I did if I didn’t care for you. I am not saying for a second that you should go marry the first woman you meet and have a family with her. But – Shane – do you see how you and Bette are so alike ?”
“She tells me that all the time “
“You two are more alike than you know. You didn’t know Bette way back when I meet her and I see the old Bette in you – so self destructive. But look at her now Shane – she has changed so much – she is happy and settled. She’s found peace. She was always at war with herself – never satisfied with what she had. She’s come to terms with so much. We went to Disneyland – can you imagine the CAC Bette at Disneyland ? “
Shane smiled “I see your point “
“She loved it Shane – she just had a ball. Bette never had much of a childhood – she was never allowed one because of what a prick Melvin was and her mother leaving her. So she’s never done the fun park thing. I tell you Shane she was like a big kid – she would do anything for Angie but I saw the sheer joy in her eyes. You had to grow up too soon Shane “
“You going to take me to Disneyland ?”
“I think all of us getting a place and going would be a blast “
Shane sighed “ I know that I need to change “
“That’s a start “ Tina said kindly
“You been to work since you got back ?”
“I was in this morning “
“Lots of rumours “
“So I gather – you give much credence to them ?”
“We have bought the rights to the book “
“What odds on him giving me the job like he did with Lez Girls ?”
“It would make the controversy about Lez Girls look like 101 Dalmatians “
“That’s roughly what I was thinking “
“You heard about Jenny ?”
“Do I want to hear about her ?”
“She was offered a writing job last week “
“Where ?”
“New York “
“So is she going ?”
“She turned it down because it was a film with Nikki “
“You can’t be turning down jobs like that “
“I could hardly tell her that – when she sees me she just acts like I have an invisibility cloak on “
Tina smiled “ She bears a grudge like no one I know – she is still a child “
“It used to bother me – it really used to upset me but now she just makes herself look silly “
“That sounds like her “
“I know that you blamed me “
“Nikki was as much to blame “
Shane nodded “ I shouldn’t have done it – you are right. It was so unlike me “
“I know – Shane – the last thing I wanted was to fall out with you “
“I know – I acted like an idiot “
“You defended yourself – are we okay ?”
Shane held out her hand to indicate that she was fine with Tina. Tina took her hand and dragged her into a hug
“That’s great “
“You sure I cannot do anything to help you – having a sick Angie is one thing but Bette being sick is just going to be hard work for you “

Interesting as always AllyE. Hope Bette and Angie are ok, just a little stomach virus, maybe. Good that Shane made up with Tina. Now what is going on at the studio that has upset Tina? Great post. Post when you can.
Can’t wait to see what’s going on with Tina at the studio. Also hope Bette doesn’t act like a big baby when she’s sick, if that’s what Shane was alluding to! PPS

Yeah, both Bette and Shane had limited childhoods which may have lead to their mutual tendency to schtupp for the USA at the Olympics, but I find the comparison to be of somewhat limited value. I mean both the Marquis de Sade and Clark Gable were noted celebrity lover boys of their respective days, but I think that’s about all those two shared. Bette’s youth, though harsh under Melvin’s parentage, was otherwise one of comfort and some privilege; Shane more or less grew up in the gutter. Shane needs to grow into a mature Shane, not the Shane Bette and/or Tina think she needs to be.
Poor Bette and Angie but Tina is there to take care of them and hope they will get better soon. Glad Tina and Shane talk and they are ok now. Please post more, thanks!
Hello AllyE, Thank you for another fine and fabulous addition to this fantastic fan fiction. Youn make the most mundane moments extraordinary. Bette and Tina dealing with a hot and bothered Angelica was so precious. This little girl is the light of both her mothers’ eyes. Tina, in full Nightingale mode, is pretty delicious. Great to see how she delas with her lover and child. Calmness reigns supreme as Tina just gets on with the day to day reality. Her concerns about works are teasing. I do hope things get sorted out sonner rather than later. I do get the sense that Bette might be the patient from hell as she tries to fend of infection and continue as before. I am sure Tina has the measure of her partner. Then Shane and Tina begin to rebuild their friendship. The sins of the past are discussed and the present is what they are working on. Shane knows that sher has acted foolishly and is able to admit it. Tina can deal with this and get them to move forward. Wonderful writing and classic storytelling. Brilliant as always. Thank you so much for entertaining me with all that you create. Your Loyal Fan.
