No Longer Roommates, But Mates. – (Chapter: Reconciliation)

    Ch. 8

    Spencer’s POV:

I wish I could disappear right now. What was I going to do? If I tell her, I think it’s going to totally break her, and if I don’t… there will still be huge consequences, because then I basically ‘hid it’. I’m tempted to live by the phrase, “What they don’t know can’t hurt ‘em.” Yeah, well, they still have to find out at some point. “Ash, I don’t know how to say this. I’m sorry, but-” I took a deep breath. I could see the fear and the pain clouding her eyes as she braced herself for the terrible things I was going to tell her. “I was stupid, and I don’t know, angry? I wasn’t thinking at all; I just didn’t know how to deal with all this and instead of being there for you to help you out, today, I just-” I sighed, hanging my head in shame. “I cheated on you.” I said simply, turning away. I couldn’t bear to look at her.

“No.” she said weakly. “Spencer, please tell me you really didn’t.” she said, not believing me. I could tell she didn’t want to. I didn’t know what to say. I just kept my eyes lowered. “NO! Spencer, you love me. You promised me you wouldn’t do this to me!” she cried. “Didn’t you tell me you love me too, Ashley?” I shot back. All the pain and bitterness I felt was welling up in my voice now. “Spencer, I do love you!” she cried, the tears flowing freely down her face now. “Is this what this is all about, Spencer, getting even? I told you I was sorry- I told you that I’d do anything to fix this! It’s not supposed to be this way.” She said sadly, shaking her head. “I know I’ve been stupid, Spencer, but it’s not going to work out if we just keep on hurting each other.” I remained silent. “Ashley, I did it because you betrayed me. You were so jealous and angry when I didn’t even do anything! Then you went off and fucked some girl till almost noon! Do you know how worried I was about you? I was waiting for you the entire time and for you to just shut me out and go cheat on me- I didn’t know how to deal with that. I just hated how you did that to me, so I cheated on you when I had the chance today, because I did want you to know how it feels.” I spat angrily. It was all coming out now, like drawing poison from a wound. “Spencer, I was drunk and I didn’t even know how it happened! You did this when you were completely sober; you willingly went out and just fucked the first girl you saw so you could hurt me.” She whimpered, putting her head in between her knees. “Being drunk is no excuse, Ashley. Not everyone who gets drunk cheats on their fiancés!” “Spencer, never meant for that to happen.” She sobbed. “But you did hurt me, Ashley. I don’t know how to deal with this! I don’t understand why you didn’t trust me, why you went out and cheated on me without trying to communicate with me!” “I didn’t trust you because I was afraid something like this would happen.” She said softly. “I was afraid you’d cheat on me.” I sighed angrily. This was too frustrating; I never had the intent of cheating on her before all this.. Never. I didn’t, because I knew in my heart that nobody else loved me more than Ashley did.

    1. okay i get spence wasn’t drunk so ash is mad at that but i mean come on if ashley didn’t think spencer was going to cheat on her and than cheated on her in the first place none of it would have happened i mean she’s been loyal for seven years to ash, that one mistake in the beginning seven years ago ash so needs to get over that so they can try and get over the wrongs they’ve done to each other now in the present..

    5. Yes, I too agree with dawniekey. Ashley is afraid to let go. I think that she’s afraid to be this person that loves hard even though she desperately wants to. Great update. I love them together. Keep proving Paula wrong!!!

    7. Well thank god for that! At least they are on the right track now and if they are really going to move on they need to let it all go regardless of who did what and who went out and screwed up as a result as so on. I’m glad that despite all the pain they are willing to sit down and work it out – it shows a real commitment to the relationship which is going to be important while they dig through their painful past. Love this story soooooo much, pms!

    11. I’m in agreement with dawniekey. Ashley’s insecurity is driving a wedge between their love for one another. If she can’t trust Spencer their relationship/marriage will never work. They both need to learn the lessons from this horrible set back and trust one another with all their hearts, only then can they live without fear. Awesome update…PMS
