Memories of Us – (Chapter: I've Just Seen a Face)

"Hey Ash, you remember this?" Spencer asked holding up a King High t-shirt, stained with coke, and butter from popcorn.

"Yeah, it’s from our first date." Ashley said remembering Spencer that night.

The 7th grade class had been reviewing different types of sentences. The desks were divided across the English class in groups of two, and the person you sat with would be your partner for the year for projects and assignments. Ashley and Spencer were, of course, together. The were inseperable by now, they weren’t going out and they never brought up the incident at camp, to them it was just a ‘spur of the moment’ kind of thing, so the two were now just friends.

While the teacher was talking, Ashley and Spencer were messing around with each other, playing footsie, anything a couple would do. Ashley threw a crumpled up piece of paper at Spencer with a unbelievably good picture of her drawn on it. On the bottom like she always did, she drew a little heart and her signature on it. Spencer looked at the picture and became breathless when she saw that it looked exactly like herself.

Ash, this is beautiful She mouthed, Ashley just nodded and smiled in response.

"So are you." Ashley mumbled so Spencer didn’t hear her.

"So class, I want you to take some time and practice those sentences with your partner, use a declaritive, imperative, and an interrogative sentence. Okay go ahead." Miss Smith said and Ashley said she’ll go first.

"Okay, here’s my declarative: I really like you, Spencer. Interrogative: Will you go out with me this weekend? IImperative: Please say yes."

Spencer smiled her smile that made Ashley’s heart melt.

"My turn." Spencer announced. "Declarative: Yes, I’ll go out with you. Interrogative: What time and what day? Imperative: Don’t be late."

When Ashley got to Spencer’s house that weekend, she knocked on the door and Spencer came out (no pun) looking stunning.

"Be back later, dad!" She called.

Ashley got to the car and opened the door for her.

    "Thank you." Spencer smiled.

    "Anytime." Ashley responded.

Ashley went around to the other side of the car and got in. Her sister, Lauren was driving and Lauren’s friend, Sammie, was in the front seat.
