“I know Bette. Things will be just fine.”

            Lying beside her lover, Bette can’t help but feel scared. She mentioned marriage and Tina did not blink an eye. What was happening between them? There was a time when they touched while sleeping. That time has long since passed. Bette decides to get up and go check on Angelica. Walking into the nursery she peers down at the sleeping angel.  Bette sits in the rocking chair and lets her mind wonder.

            What happened that made her eyes begin to wonder in the first place? There was an amazing amount of stress at work. Tina had lost the baby. No it happened long before that. That is why they began seeing Dan.

            Bette got up and wondered aimlessly through the house. She did not hear steps behind her. Bette jumped when she heard Tina’s voice.

            “Bette? Are you okay?”

            “Oh, T, I am sorry did I wake you? I was not expecting you to get up so early. I am fine. Actually, no I am not fine. I was just trying to figure outnever mind.”

            “Figure out what, Bette.”

            “Tina, when did we get bad?”

            Sighing, Tina sat down on the couch and patted the spot next to her. “Come sit down, Bette.”

            “Bette, I am not sure when we lost what we had. I truly don’t know. Perhaps we both just got bored. Maybe we let little things cloud our vision of what was truly important.”

            “Tina, do you remember when we first met? I was so mesmerized by your beauty. I knew you were with Eric. I knew that I should not flirt with you. I could not help myself. There was something so intriguing about you.”

            “I remember. I was in awe of you. I had feelings that I had not had in, forever. I knew I would want to see you again. That is why I left my earring. I knew you would find it. I knew you would call me. I wanted it.”

            “I was excited when I found the earring. I thought ‘I get to see her again’, Alice knew as well. She kept telling me to leave you alone that you were straight.”
