GETTING TO THE GOOD PART—Ch. 3
GETTING TO THE GOOD PART—Ch. 3
Tina was nursing her coffee as she stared out at the crashing waves. Yesterday was a very good day, any day when she works with the kids leaves her with a smile on her face but her smile had a lot to do with a certain gorgeous art director. She had a lot of people comment on the goofy smile that would occasionally appear on her face when she thought about Bette.
When she came home to have dinner with Peggy her mother-in-law noticed the smile on Tina’s face.
*********************************
(Yesterday at dinner)
Peggy was watching Tina intently as her daughter was staring off into the ocean. She could see that meeting Bette had a lasting effect on Tina. It had been a little over two years since William had pasted and in that time Tina hadn’t shown any signs of moving on with her life. She still had a sadness in her eyes and a heavy heart that seemed to extinguish the beautiful light that once radiated from deep within her soul. Peggy didn’t go as far as to set Tina up on a date but she tried to nudge Tina in the direction of being open to the possibility of meeting someone new. She knew her son wouldn’t want Tina to be lonely and he would want her to find love again, if it were to present itself…but thus far Tina didn’t appear to be ready. Although her meeting with Bette did bring out a glimmer of light back into Tina’s eyes.
“So Tina tell me what are your thoughts on Bette Porter?”
Tina stopped playing with her food looking a bit startled at hearing Peggy’s voice interrupting her day dreaming. “I didn’t really get a chance to get to know her, but she seemed nice—sweet actually.” Tina said a little smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
“Hmm she did seem a bit different, however I think that had more to do with you my dear. I don’t think ‘sweet’ is really a quality that Ms. Porter wants advertised about her. Art directors have to be ruthless to get what they want, but I have heard that she can be quite charismatic.”

“With great effort Bette threw the envelope into the wastebasket.” aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh … . on a positive note, i just LOVE this story and the way it’s unfolding. hope i’m not first.
I know that envelope had better not stayed in that trashcan…what is Bette thinking? I think they all need to meet up at whatever club Tina & Carmen are going to. More please I love this story.
love this T and yes try to keep them away from each other for a little while.. but they soon will meet again.please! p.p.s.
i’m in love!!! post again soon please……thanx……
OK – so how long is it going to take Bette to look inside the envelope – and find an original Kennard!
Oh, nooooo! Toribio, I can’t believe you did it to me again! Jeez, I know it’s going to happen, and still I dive head first into it!… Yes indeed, you HAVE done it, you’ve made me addicted to this story, just like you’ve made me to “A helping hand…”… Arrgghhh… Okay, I guess that’s what talent is all about… No, seriously, I know you don’t have too much time, and I should be just happy that you decided to continue this story, but I’m gonna have to have an update of this in a near future, this is soooooooo good! And I think we all need Bette and Tina to see each other again… Okay, well, I guess this means Thank you for another brillant tale! Please come back soon.
so good, so intriguing…i hope they will all meet at the club and after that won’t be able to stay away from each other
We all know as soon as Bette views the picture, now safely in her desk drawer, she will realize the true identity of “Kennard.” I am certain that That Tina’s style runs through all her work, no matter what the medium may be. Make her look at it soon. PPS.
She should open it up because it just might give her a hint that Kennard is Tina. The style and the possible subject matter may lead Bette in the right direction.
Between the pursuit of the elusive Kennard and the romantic slant of it, I’m not sure which aspect’s got me hooked more. I really enjoy reading this story.
lovely
ARG! SO good! But why is it not longer?! ;) Sorry, just can’t get enough of this story.
Hope Bette will call Tina after she open the letter,or envelope. Love this I believe Bette will turn Tinas world up side down. If Helena finds out that is when the dyke drama will come in thanks

Oh this is so good and let see more, thanks!
Love it. Thank you.
This is a really good story…and I so enjoy reading it
really enjoying this ride…
Toribio, Another wonderful installment to this charming and delightful story. It is so full of near misses and almosts that is could be cynical however given your light and gentle touch it is full of hope and inspiration. Bette and Tina have both been hit by a bolt of lightening and are now trying to find out what the hell it was and ahow it has changed them. Good to see that Alice is still the one with her foot in her mouth syndrome particularly around Bette’s love life. What you captured brilliantly was the group conversation as all the characters had their own voice and story to tell. Good to see that TIna has Carmen and Jamie to provide her with the truth and to try to get her to leave the santuary of the Peabody mansion and live a little. Thank you for painting such a bright and hopeful pisture. I love it. Much gratitude from your Loyal Fan.
I didn’t think I would like the Bette and Tina cool down you mentioned, but what do I know? I’m totally digging it!! :D
