GETTING TO THE GOOD PART—Ch. 3

Tina merely nodded, she really hadn’t seen that side of Bette but she was quite breathtaking with her beautiful brown expressive eyes and her gorgeous heart-stopping smile, she could see how Bette Porter could mesmerize people. As Tina’s thoughts began to once again linger on Bette she pushed the thought aside feeling somewhat conflicted at being attracted to someone other than Will.

“So Peggy how exactly did she see my paintings?” Tina asked.

Peggy smirked knowing that her daughter was changing the subject. “I was in the room prior to her arrival and forgot to close the door behind me. She was quite taken with your work.”

Tina furrowed her brow as she looked away. “Was she?”

“She wanted to book Kennard for the CAC’s next exhibit…” Tina whipped her head back at hearing that. “…don’t worry I told her it wouldn’t be possible but perhaps you should consider this.”

Tina let out an exasperated sigh. “Peggy we’ve already been through this…”

“Your work should be hanging in a gallery not locked up in a room. You allowed Simone to show your work when you were at University all of which were remarkable, but then…”

Tina smiled brightly. “Then your son swept me off my feet and we got married.”

“I’ve never seen him or you so happy. You know I always thought it was strange that you didn’t paint during that period.”

“I tried but everything I painted was too bright and cheerful. I guess I was too busy being happy to paint anything good.” Tina said as a sad smile played on her face.

“You were planning on showing your work at Simone’s gallery before the accident. William was so proud of you…”

“Peggy don’t throw the ‘Will would want you to show the world your paintings’ card again.”

Peggy appeared to be holding her tongue, but as Tina was raising her glass of water Peggy stuck her two cents in. “He would want you to show your paintings.” Peggy mumbled before taking a big drink of water.

Tina turned away looking back out at the water. “I know he would.”

    1. I know that envelope had better not stayed in that trashcan…what is Bette thinking? I think they all need to meet up at whatever club Tina & Carmen are going to. More please I love this story.

    2. Oh, nooooo! Toribio, I can’t believe you did it to me again! Jeez, I know it’s going to happen, and still I dive head first into it!… Yes indeed, you HAVE done it, you’ve made me addicted to this story, just like you’ve made me to “A helping hand…”… Arrgghhh… Okay, I guess that’s what talent is all about… No, seriously, I know you don’t have too much time, and I should be just happy that you decided to continue this story, but I’m gonna have to have an update of this in a near future, this is soooooooo good! And I think we all need Bette and Tina to see each other again… Okay, well, I guess this means Thank you for another brillant tale! Please come back soon.

    3. We all know as soon as Bette views the picture, now safely in her desk drawer, she will realize the true identity of “Kennard.” I am certain that That Tina’s style runs through all her work, no matter what the medium may be. Make her look at it soon. PPS.

    4. She should open it up because it just might give her a hint that Kennard is Tina. The style and the possible subject matter may lead Bette in the right direction.

    5. Hope Bette will call Tina after she open the letter,or envelope. Love this I believe Bette will turn Tinas world up side down. If Helena finds out that is when the dyke drama will come in thanks

    6. Toribio, Another wonderful installment to this charming and delightful story. It is so full of near misses and almosts that is could be cynical however given your light and gentle touch it is full of hope and inspiration. Bette and Tina have both been hit by a bolt of lightening and are now trying to find out what the hell it was and ahow it has changed them. Good to see that Alice is still the one with her foot in her mouth syndrome particularly around Bette’s love life. What you captured brilliantly was the group conversation as all the characters had their own voice and story to tell. Good to see that TIna has Carmen and Jamie to provide her with the truth and to try to get her to leave the santuary of the Peabody mansion and live a little. Thank you for painting such a bright and hopeful pisture. I love it. Much gratitude from your Loyal Fan.
