    I Wish CH 27

After a brief whispered conversation, Tina found herself in the passenger seat of Bette’s SUV on her way to….hell she didn’t even know where they were going. She didn’t care, as long as she was beside Bette. When they pulled outside of Bette’s condo, Tina’s nerves started to take over.

"Um, what’s up? Are we stopping here for something?"

"Yeah, you could say that." Bette smirked at Tina. "Come on, let’s go in."

"Are you sure Bette? I mean, that we should be here. Together I mean. Um, this is your home, your safe haven away from everything, everyone. Your sanctuary almost."

Turning to Tina with a serious look Bette responded. " First off, this is not my "home". This, is a place where all my stuff is for right now. It is not a safe haven, nor a sanctuary. This, is a condo. A brick and mortar walled enclosure that holds things. Unfortunately for me, it is holding my things right now. But it is not my home. It’s a place I live right now. Not forever, not here anyway."

"Sorry, I’m sorry Bette. I didn’t know that you were unhappy living here. Why did you ever buy this place if you didn’t like it?"

Grabbing Tina’s hand, Bette looked into her eyes, and with a sigh replied, "Come inside, I’ll tell you inside."

Sitting on the sofa, a couple of cold glasses of iced tea on the table in front of them, Tina asked again.

"Are you going to tell me? Why you are living here if you don’t like it."

Bette looked at Tina, and knew here answer would be painful, for both of them.

"It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just that it isn’t home."

"You have said before, what do you mean by it?"

"I mean, when I walk in here after a day, it’s just a place for my clothes, and my stuff. There are no, no……there are no memories. No good times to reflect on, no, no…..no….."

"No what Bette? No what? You can tell me."

"There is no you. No Angelica, no….us." A lone tear slid down Bette’s cheek as she looked up at Tina.
