    Her Guardian – Chapter 33

After all the introductions have been made, the group is led to the helipad.  There they are allowed, a few at a time, to climb inside the helicopter.  Shane and the pilot each describe to the groups their specific duties and functions on their missions.

Tina is standing back, monitoring all the kids who aren’t inside the helicopter.  Dana approaches her.

“Hey, don’t you wanna go in the helicopter with the next group?”

“No, I’m ok.  I’ll watch the all the other students.”

    “Are you sure?”

“Yep.  I was awake for the last ride, you weren’t.  Go ahead.”

“Ok, if you’re sure.”  Dana leads the next group up to the helicopter.  She and Shane smile at each other and Shane is suddenly shy in front of Dana.

“McCutcheon, go ahead.  Tell them all about what you do here,” the pilot speaks to her.

Shane realizes that she has been standing there, dumbfounded.  She gets her bearings quickly and launches into her speech.

Susan Kennard is standing near Tina, talking to her.  “That was some introduction that Bette got.  You didn’t tell us how successful she was in her career.”

“I didn’t know mom.  Bette always plays down the importance of her job.  When she talks about it, she says that she pulls people out of the water.”

“Sounds to me like she does much more than that.”

“I know.”  Tina is still beaming with pride and her mother can see that clearly.

“You made the right decision Tina, staying with this one.  She’s definitely a keeper.”

Tina smiles at her mom.  “I know.  Did I tell you I’m moving in with her?”

    “No, but I’m not surprised.”

“That’s where we’re all staying tonight.  You are staying right?”

“We don’t want to intrude Tina.  Especially if you’re sharing a house.”

“It’s not an intrusion, we insist.  Besides, Bette is already planning to grill steaks tonight for all of us.  Shane and Dana are coming over too.”

“Then I guess we’re staying.  Where is that girlfriend of yours anyway?”  They both look around and finally spot Bette.  She is standing with William and another group of kids who aren’t in the helicopter.

    1. Tina’s mom was funny with her hinting about children :-) I sure hope Jodi’s antics don’t put Bette in danger. Best wishes on your next surgery, as well

    2. At one of the pools that I swim at is a rescue swimmer training facility with towers and all. Sometimes we are able to see the tail end of a training session. Also student pilots use the facility to practice their survival skills. Very interesting to watch. jodi is down right evil, if she hurts Bette I will jump into your story and drown her myself.

    3. WOW that has to be an excited job, but um yea miss me on the sharks. If I see a shark while trying to rescue someone lets just say they will still be in the water and I will be back on the helicopter #TrueStory
