    Her Guardian – Chapter 33

Tina watches as Bette and her father interact, talking and laughing.  Then she sees Bette talking to the group of kids and they seem to hang on her every word.

Tina’s mom nudges her.  “She’s really good with the kids.”

    “I know.”

“They all just seem so taken by her.”

Tina smiles brightly.  Just like I am.

“She’ll be a great mother some day,” Susan points out.

    “Mother!”

    “What dear?  I’m just saying…”

“What exactly are you trying to say?”

“Tina, I do want grandchildren some day.”

Tina is shocked at her mother’s statement.  She is left speechless.

“And your father just loves her too.  Look,” Susan points to them.  “He’s just as captivated by Bette as your students.”

Tina watches as her father listens to Bette.  She has the full attention of everyone around.  Again, Tina’s heart swells with pride.

After every student has had a chance to view the helicopter, they all climb back on the buses and drive to the training facility.  Bette and Tina are seated together on the bus.

“Do you think the kids are enjoying this?” Bette asks Tina.

“Are you kidding?  They are having a great time.”

“Good.  What about you?  Are you enjoying yourself?”

Tina leans close to whisper in Bette’s ear.  “I’m having a great time watching you.”  She breathes heavy in Bette’s ear.  “I love you baby.”

Bette blushes for just a second, then turns back into Lt. Porter.  “Ok here we are, next stop.”

Everyone gathers inside the training facility as Tim takes over.  He talks to the students about the requirements to be a rescue swimmer and then has some of the actual swimmers perform some of the drills.  Everyone watches as the trainees jump from the tower (simulating a helicopter) and land in the pool.  They demonstrate various rescue techniques to get the victims from the water.  Tim explains to the kids that it is much like their schooling.  When someone gets in trouble or does something wrong, they have to perform extra drills.  The kids all seem to relate to that part.

After the training facility, they all head to lunch at the mess hall.  Bette had arranged for everyone to eat together there.  The base is providing the meal for all the students and chaperones.  Bette even recruited several coast guard members (swimmers and others) to eat with them.  She arranged for at least one coast guard member per table to interact with the students.

    1. Tina’s mom was funny with her hinting about children :-) I sure hope Jodi’s antics don’t put Bette in danger. Best wishes on your next surgery, as well

    2. At one of the pools that I swim at is a rescue swimmer training facility with towers and all. Sometimes we are able to see the tail end of a training session. Also student pilots use the facility to practice their survival skills. Very interesting to watch. jodi is down right evil, if she hurts Bette I will jump into your story and drown her myself.

    3. WOW that has to be an excited job, but um yea miss me on the sharks. If I see a shark while trying to rescue someone lets just say they will still be in the water and I will be back on the helicopter #TrueStory
