Chapter 1

It has been two months since the breakup of the so-called golden couple. Bette and Tina were together for more than seven years. They were so in love, just perfect for each other in the eyes of many people. Their friends admired the love they have for one another and the way they worked hard together to make their love so beautiful. They were determined to last forever and just by looking at them you know they will. It came as a surprise to all when they broke up and what was even more surprising was the basis for the demise of the relationship.

Alice and Shane sat at a table together. Alice complained to Shane about having to knit for an article although despite her not really knowing how to knit. Shane laughed while still enjoying her magazine as Alice continued her rant. Regularly at this hour the gang would have all be here conversing and leaving with laughter to jump start their mornings. 

“How’s Tina?” Shane asked continuing to read her magazine.

“Well, Bette still hasn’t called her. It has been two freaking months. I don’t get Bette. Does she want Tina back or not?”

“There’s something really wrong when God lets two people who are meant to be together come apart like that,” she said staring into the distance.

Alice stopped knitting and picked up her coffee cup.

“You believe in God?”

Dana and Tonya unexpectedly approached the table.

“Who believe in God?” Tonya asked making her present known.

“Shane said something about God breaking Bette and Tina up so I was just wondering about her faith,” explained Alice looking at the couple as they settled down.

“God doesn’t exist. Some people just love the idea of having a guiding hand. Right babe?”

“Dana’s family is actually Christian,” replied Alice.

“Yes Alice my family is Christian but I’m actually agnostic,” said Dana with annoyance.

Alice looked at Dana as if to ask her why she didn’t tell her this before but stopped her thought.

“So how’s Tina? Has Bette called yet?” Dana asked.

Alice shook her head.
