Tina and Bette have been best friends ever since grade 9, and even though they’ve had their ups and downs over the years, their still the best of friends. They were now in grade 12, and they were all sitting around the table, talking about how there was only one month of school left then summer, then off to college.
“I just cant wait to get out of this state and go to NYU, it’s going to be awesome,” Tina said to her group of friends. At this Bette looked down saddened, she hated when Tina talked about NYU or even about leaving, she would miss Tina; she would miss her first love.

“New York is awesome Tina, you’re going to have so much fun,” Shane said to Tina, joining in on her happiness,

“Uhm I’m going to get a pop, want anything Tina?” Bette said getting up wanting to avoid this conversation. Lately Bette had been avoiding Tina due to this very conversation, but she couldn’t stay away for long no matter how much it hurt to hear it; she understood why Tina was excited, but it still hurt none the less.

“Uh yeah, can you get me a bag of chips?” Tina twisted to go inside her knapsack for her purse, but Bette interrupted her,

“I got it Tee,” Bette turned and went to inside to the cafeteria, Alice frowned and went to follow her; she jogged so she could catch up to Bette,

“Bette, hey come on,” Alice grabbed Bette’s shoulder and made her stop in her tracks, she pulled her so Bette was facing her.

    “Alice, just don’t,”

“Bette I understand, I do ok? You’re upset and you’re in love with Tina,” At this admission Bette looked around bashfully, making sure no one heard, and then at Alice.

“Is it obvious?” Bette asked worried,

“Sometimes, but I’m pretty sure Tina is oblivious, but I’ve known for a while, just the way you look at her, and lately I’ve noticed it because you get upset  and leave whenever Tina talks about New York,”

Bette sighed frustrated, and rubbed her forehead with her hand, “It just hurts ok Alice? I love her, and she’s leaving! And I’m staying here, she’s going to meet a lot of guys, and new friends, and I just don’t want her to go!” Bette whipped a tear from her eyes, not wanting to cry. Alice didn’t know what to say, because in truth she didn’t understand how Bette was feeling.

    1. Sorry you went through something like that, in some way I’m sure most of us can relate, I know I can… thanks for sharing and hope to see you post some more.

    2. So sorry for what you went through. I’ve come to believe that when love is one sided, it just means that it’s not meant to be-it’s not the one. Hope you feel better with time.

    3. Judging by the comments I suppose this has happen to you, if so im so sorry to hear that, how crushed you must have felt…but damn I really thought tina was going to give in…well no happy ending here sigh
