Two Weeks Later…

School is just out and Tina and I are walking to the bus stop.

“Gosh, Amada looks really bad.” She says and I nod.

“Yeah, I think it’s the morning sickness… That last all day. I mean, how many times did she run to the toilet today? 7?” I ask Tina.

“8.” She tells me and I give her a look. “What?” She asks.

“You counted?” I ask her.

“Yeah.” She answers. “Anyways, I saw Josh and he looks like crap to. I heard he doesn’t want the child.”

“Such a scumbag.” I say and she nods.

“Yes, I mean, that girl is carrying his child for God’s sake. He has to care for it. Poor Amanda.” She says and I look at Tina.

“You are not angry that she slept with Josh while you two were still together?” I ask her and she shakes her head.

“No, not really. I was not really in love with him. It just hurt that he cheated because it made me feel worthless. But only because I thought I was not good enough. And besides, because we broke up, I was single so we could get together.” She gives me that smile that makes me feel so good.

When I see that there is no one around, I lean in and kiss her short and soft. She smiles. We are close to the bus stop. We see the bus arrive and begin to run; otherwise we’ll have to wait an hour. We manage to catch the bus on time and we are laughing because I almost fell when I tried to get on it. We go sit down. It’s only 20 minutes before we are home. I sit next to her and I touch her pinky with mine, just because I want to be close to her but she swiftly pulls away.

Peter, one of classmates, is sitting a few feet away and he could see it. He knows I’m gay so it wouldn’t be hard for him to put it all together and know that we are a couple. Even though I know that, it still hurts a bit. Mark and Tessa are sitting a few seats in front of us and they are sucking each other’s face the whole time and no one even says something. I think that if I would just hold my girlfriend’s hand, it would be the biggest event of the week. We arrive at our stop and get out. Tina talks while I just stay silent, nodding and walking.
