“Bette? Bette! What’s wrong?” She asks and I look at her.

“It’s un fair.” I say and she looks at me.

“That Charlie told Jake to back off his girl?” She asks puzzled.

“No, that we don’t even hold hands while Mark and Tessa can practically have public sex and no one says anything about it.” I say and she sighs.

“Bette, we could do the same if I was ready to come out, which I’m not.” She says and I look at her with a little smile.

“Tina, we couldn’t. There would be a huge reaction and you know it. It’s stupid but it’s the truth. They wouldn’t hesitate to keep on making comments.” I say.

“Maybe…” She reacts. “Do you want me to come out?” She asks and I shake my head.

“Not if you are not ready, baby but it would be… easier for me even if when we come forward with our relationship they will freak out a bit… at least I wouldn’t have to lie anymore and then I wouldn’t have to stay silent when half of the male population of our school is hitting on you.” I say.

“Babe, I know but I just… I am not ready.” She says and I look at her with a smile.

“I know, I know you are not ready so I’ll wait but… I just had to tell you that it’s something that’s bothering me.” I say and she takes my hand.

“I understand.” She says. She brings up my hand to her lips and places a sweet kiss on it. That makes me smile.

I’m laying on my back on Tina’s bed while she is asking me questions about the history stuff I just ‘studied’.

“How the hell am I supposed to know that?” I ask, laughing while she chuckles.

“Bette, you should have studied this.” She says and I shrug my shoulders.

“I was looking at something far more interesting than my books.” I say and her eyes begin to sparkle. Gosh, I love that.

“Oh, and what would that be?” She asks playfully.

“Well, I have this amazingly beautiful girlfriend with this great pair of ti…” Before I can finish my sentence she throws my books at me while laughing, which I do to.
