A Secret Well Kept – (Chapter: Letting it Out)

My head was going to explode.  Too much information too fast. She was talking too much I was barely able to catch every other word. I think I could make out things like "It didn’t feel right kissing him goodnight, he wasn’t gentle." "He didn’t understand me." "I should be with someone who gets me, who knows the little things. My favourite color, my favourite time of year, my favourite movie, when I’m lying".

That’s when I think I zoned out on her. Is she blind? Why is she doing this to me? Can she not see the way I look at her? Women, you’d think they’d be easier. She sat here going over every detail from the time her and Aiden drove off to the moment he dropped her off at my place. None of which I particularly wanted to hear. I wanted to enjoy the night I had. I wanted to enjoy the beginnings of my crush on Ally. I didn’t want to think I might still have hope here. Was it just me or was someone up there conspiring against my happiness, my ability to move past my more than friendly feelings towards a certain blonde haired blue eyed best friend of mine?

"Ash? Are you even listening to anything I’ve been saying to you?"  She finally stopped talking. And unfortunately, I heard that. But you know what I’m tired and frankly a little irritated so, we’re taking the honest approach tonight.

"You know what Spence. No I wasn’t listening to you. I wasn’t listening because you’re making something that shouldn’t matter into something too dramatic for me to stand right now." was my response to her as a got off my bar stool with a little more oomph than was necessary.

"I’m being dramatic? This coming from you?" she went straight for what would hurt. Fortunately for me, I didn’t expect anything less.

"Yeah this coming from me. So what your date with Mr.Highschool didn’t go like you planned. That’s life, sometimes things don’t go your way. Welcome to reality Spence now, get over it. There’re other fish in the sea. Other jocks that need attention. Did you even consider asking me about my date? If I enjoyed myself? I’m sick of it Spencer." I used a tone I’ve only ever once used with her before. This wasn’t going to end well, and I knew it. Was I going to stop? Not a chance in hell. My pot had officially runith over.
