Always Her – (Chapter: chapter seventeen)

She was behind that door. Not listening to me and not opening it. I was trying to figure out why she just up and left me at the diner. I had come too far to go home without her. I was finally ready. I couldn’t let her leave, not under these circumstances.

I had done my best to explain everything to her. I wasn’t sure if it was enough though. I didn’t know if she was willing to accept that I had made a mistake, a huge one. One that would haunt me forever, even if we did end up together.

Everyone deserves a second chance right? A chance to make things right and better than they were before. It was my own stupidity that had gotten us to this point. I couldn’t bear the thought of another day without her. I needed to be in that room and if I had to break a shoulder ramming into it then so be it.

    ——————–

Her soft knocking soon escalated into pounding. I felt trapped inside my own mind. Should I even be thinking about my past mistakes?

Get it together Davies. This isn’t about what you’ve done, it’s about what she’s done.

"Ashley! Open the damn door right now!"

I couldn’t hold off any longer. I wrenched the door open and she stormed past me.

"What the hell Ash? What was that all about?"

I looked at her, trying to decide what to say. I reached over to shut the door and resume my place against it. So many things were running through my head.

    "Ashley?"

She sat down facing me while I looked at my shoes. Her fingertips grazed my chin and brought my gaze to meet hers. The fury that was in her voice was gone and her eyes showed nothing but confusion. The warmth of her touch rushed through me. I felt safe and almost complete. Like I was back where I was meant to be.

"I don’t know Spencer. For a minute there I got brought back to the old me and started to doubt that I’m what’s best for you."

She sighed. Her hand fell and her eyes wandered.

Was she thinking that I was right? I didn’t want to admit it aloud to her but it was the one coherant thought that was running through my head. I had always thought that having such a caring, understanding, and beautiful person in my life was fate’s idea of a fucked up joke. That it was all too good to be real. But if she thought that, she wouldn’t have come all this way to find me. At least I don’t think she would have.

    1. I’m sorry to see it end but it was a pleasure to have been able to read it. Yes! you capture every bit the emotion of both of your characters. Thank you for this story

    2. Glad to be of service lol. I’m happy my ramberlings were able to keep you going. Loved the ending I’m glad Ashley gave Spencer another chance she would have been mad not to I mean come on it’s Spencer!! Keep on laughing and I’m always here if you need an inspration boost lmao!!!!

    3. I totally forgot that I wanted to mention my inspiration for the original one shot start to this- driving around listening to Hinder’s Lips of an Angel. and boom the first chap popped into my head! anyway just wanted to share lol

    4. I’m so sad it’s over but I have to say it was really great and not over the top at all, very realistic and the emotions were perfectly displayed. I really hope you keep writing cause you’re great at it!

    5. Okay sorry it took me a few days to read this but I haven’t been around a computer. Thank you so much for the shoutout! And the ending was amazing (even though I don’t think this story should ever end). There were some very powerful emotions and you write them out so beautifully. It’s pretty crazy that this started out as a one-shot but honestly, there’s no way you could have gotten away with just that. I don’t think this story could have ended any other way but with a happy ending. But I vote you start writing another story. And soon.

    6. aww i got a shoutout *blush* iLu too! ^^I’m really happy with how things turned out :) I mean…I’m not necessarily talking about the (unexpected) happy endind *giggle* BUT how a one-shot turned out 17 chapters =). It wasn’t easy, I know, but I’m so haapy and proud of what u’ve accomplished here! It was great! I enjoyed it. Congrats on finishing ur first story *claping*, hope u throw us something new soon ;)I missed u by 2min on the other side *pout* but oh, well, we’ll talk soon…hopefully. mwahh

    7. Hi! Sorry I’m late to comment but I just got back, well an hour ago and 2 little people demanded my attention first, I think you can forgive me! Shhhh, don’t tell anyone but I read this first…considering what was posted over the weekend that’s kudos indeed :0) I just had no idea where you were going to take it and I WAS surprised we had a happy Spashley ending. I was pleased as I’m a sucker for a happy ending but either would have worked and been totally validated by the emotions running through the story. 17 chapters of story, from the previous comments I can see that I’m not the only one who is glad you did decide to expand, there was so much I was dying to find out after you posted the inital chapter and now I know! Thanks for the shout out but I call talent where I see it and you’ve got it by the bucket load. I’m gonna be in touch tonight but for now, good job!

    8. Great ending. I am glad I was able to read it. It was a good story. I cant wait for you next thing it will be great. Thanks for the mention it was an honor.
