Ashes Made Cold – (Chapter: On a Pale Horse…)

It’s late that’s true, but for the lone, pale figure walking in the
night, devotedly following her guide, it’s much later than anyone
knows. She sees through the crow’s eyes as it flies above her over
the streets. The only people out at this hour are homeless, drunks,
thieves, and murderers. How fortunate the latter is what she seeks.

She halts as she mentally she feels the crow swoop lower for a better
look at someone. There, walking through the bit of woods leading to
a boathouse is her target. The Crow waits for her perched in a pine
tree watching as the dead man walks into the boathouse. It isn’t but
a moment and she stands under its black winged form.

"It’s him," it whispers in her mind.

"I know. I was just wondering if he knew his life was forfeit." Her
head ***** to a thoughtful angle.

    "Ask him."

"No. I think I’ll show him instead." She says out loud as a
    menacing smile crosses her features.

This time the crow follows her as she steps up to the entryway of the
boathouse. She sees him huddled in a corner trying to wrap his coat
around himself to stay warm. She watches for just a moment. The
moment ends when he spies her in the doorway. He stands up pulling a
knife. From the looks of whoever this is, she must be a Woodhaven
    escapee.

"What the ***** do you want?" Tommy sneers.

"Hmmm…nothing you can give…." She tilts her head almost as if
sniffing the air, "Wait, I know. There is SOMETHING you have that I
want." She looks back at him smiling wide her hair slightly
    obscuring her face.

"Christmas is over, ***** and you are way to ***** late for
    Halloween." He stands his ground.

"Such manners. Don’t you even want to know what you have that I
want?" she takes a couple of steps towards him.

"Okay, I’ll play. What didn’t Santa bring you for Christmas that I
can give you, nutcase?" He changes position to a protective stance.

"Santa…hmmm…a fat man in a red suit who grants children’s dreams…nope…
haven’t seen him in about oh…say a year…" she steps closer to
Tommy, "but he can’t give me what I want. You can and you will."

    "what the ***** ever…you’re a crazy *****. I’ll give you a new year’s
***** if you like." He moves closer to her.
