Broken Promises and Shattered Hearts – (Chapter: Chapter 10)

(Spencer sat there has tears began to fall. “Rayne.” Kyla had named one of her children after Ashley. Well, her middle name at least. Kyla sees this and pulls Spencer into a hug. Spencer cries harder than she ever has in the comfort of Kyla’s arms. Kyla pulls Spencer close, and rubs small circles on her back. She tries to whisper comforting words to Spencer to help calm the girl down.)

Spencer: I missed so much Kyla, and it’s all my fault.

Kyla: Spencer. Spencer look at me. (Spencer raises her head to look at Kyla) You fucked up. I won’t sugar coat that. You really fucked up. But it’s been five years, Spence. And I think you suffered long enough.

Spencer: It will never be enough Kyla. Because-Be—Because I am alive, and she is dead. I killed her. Nothing will ever be the same again.

Kyla: No. Nothing will ever be the same again. But things can’t mend or heal with you over here. You need to come back home and face your demons. You can’t do that from here.

Spencer: Why—Why don’t hate me? Why are you helping me?

(Kyla sits there and ponders Spencer’s words. She use to ask herself why she cared so much how Spencer as. In all reality, she shouldn’t. This was the girl who broke her sisters heart in every way possible. She should hate Spencer with a fiery passion. But she couldn’t. Sure, she mad at Spencer for a while, but for some reason she could never hate the girl. If anything, she felt sorry for her. She felt sorry for how things turned out at prom. She’s sorry for her sister. She sorry Spencer felt the need to run away. But most of all she’s sorry Spencer felt that no one is the world cared enough about her to stop her from running away. For some reason, even though a part of her should hate Spencer, she can‘t help but wonder how Spencer felt all these years. She can‘t help but wonder what went through Spencer‘s mind. And that is what she wants the answers to.)

Kyla: I don’t know why I don’t hate you. I should. You know it. Everyone knows it. But I can’t. Maybe a part of me feels that Ashley wouldn’t want me to hate you. Even though you inevitable destroyed her. But no matter what you did or how much you hurt her, I can’t hate you. And as to why I am helping you? That’s simple. You are best friend, Spencer. And you need help. So, just let me help you.

(Spencer doesn’t say anything. They just continue to hug, and fall asleep on the couch. Neither knowing what the next couple of days will bring them, but both are happy knowing that Spencer is finally coming home. Hopefully, everything else should fall into place.)

    1. I will just plain out and say it…Ashley is alive. They faked her death as an elaborate way snapping Spencer out of that self-induced trance of hate. Now it’s time for the reunion…in my world anyway.
