“Who cares? You already did the hard part, your best
friends know and do they think any less of you?”

“I guess not”

“We don’t, people are always going to judge you,
they’ll judge you for being skinny, blonde, rich, pretty,
a good student, a sorority girl it doesn’t matter, people
will find a way to bring you down in life…don’t let
them. Be yourself, if they judge you for that then that’s
their issue don’t let them bring you down with them. If
you hide from it then it’s like you’re ashamed of
yourself and no one should be ashamed of themselves”

Her words made so much sense but I still wasn’t convinced
on what I should do, “I’m just scared”

“And that’s okay, everyone gets scared, there just words
Spence… you really think that Ashley will let anything
happen to you? Hell do you think that any of us will let
anything happen to you? Fuck no, we’re the baddest mother
fuckers East of the academic side” she said holding up a
sideways peace sign

I couldn’t hold back my laugh, “I guess you’re
right”

“Of course I am, what’s my favorite saying?” she asked

“I don’t know, be the change you want to see in the
world?”

“Pshh, no. C’mon Spence it’s “hold your head high
gorgeous, there are people that would kill to see you
fall” so don’t give in to people’s expectations of who
they think you should be, be yourself”

I don’t know how she did it but she completely managed to
calm my nerves, I didn’t have an ounce of worry left in my
body. I knew exactly who I was and I wasn’t going to let
dumb people who I didn’t even know get in the way of my
feelings for Ashley and how we conducted ourselves in
public.

“Thanks Tan, it means a lot to me”

She smiled, “Any time” she said pulling me into a hug
“So have you talked to Matt yet?”

My brow furrowed, random. “No why?” I asked

“Well I figured since he was the one who told everyone
that you would have like yelled at him or something” she
replied

I could feel my face grow hot and my blood boiled,
“you’re joking”

“No, I was here when he came in with Carmen” she replied

There were no words to describe my new found pure hate for
this kid, first he hits me and now this. Things needed to be
settled.
