Crazy Thing Called Love – (Chapter: Chapter Nine)

“Maybe I’m not supposed to be happy,” Ashley thought. No matter how hard I try, I can never get the things that I want the thing that I want the most: Spencer Carlin.

A couple days later, Spencer was picking on her lunch at the quad. Chelsea went to sit with Spencer. “Ashley Davies troubles?” asked Chelsea with curiosity. Spencer nodded. “I thought you were going to bury the hatchet that other day at the party.”

“Things just don’t go the way you,” Spencer answered. The hatchet can’t always get buried. Maybe it’s just a sign, Chels. Some couples can’t stay friends after the breakup. It’s the same with Ash and me.

“Don’t you want to be more than friends with her though, Spence?” questioned Chelsea.

“Yeah, but the thing is that I just…”

“You’re scared that Ashley will break your heart again, so you broke her heart instead,” Chelsea stated.

    “Pretty much,” agreed Spencer.

“Let me tell you something,” Chelsea began. Being in love with someone whether you are gay, straight, or bi means putting your heart on the line and taking a risk for that person. It could get messy and it means conquering your biggest fears. You got over your fear of what Paula would think about you in a relationship with another girl. Now it’s time for you to be able to overcome your other fear, Spence. What do you think?

“I think if you ever get tired of art, you could always try being a therapist,” suggested Spencer with a smile.

“Does that mean you’ll take my advice into consideration?” Chelsea questioned.

“Yes, it means that I will,” answered Spencer. Thanks for everything into perspective for me.

“No problem, that’s what best friends are for, right?” Chelsea asked.

    “Right,” answered Spencer.

“What are you still doing here?” Chelsea said.

“I still have school,” replied Spencer with a laugh.

“Go get your girl,” Chelsea stated. Look, I’ll even lend you my car to get there.

Later on, Spencer drove towards Ashley’s mansion. She got out of the car and rang the doorbell. Ashley got the door. “Hey Spencer,” Ashley said.

“Hey,” said Spencer. Look, I’m sorry about what I said to you the other night.

“Whatever, it’s cool,” Ashley replied with a sigh. Is that all or do you have something else to tell me?

“No, it’s not cool,” stated Spencer. I’ve been thinking about what you said and you were right about everything, Ashley. Ashley gave Spencer a surprised look. “It is exactly the same thing, whether I like to believe it or not. I don’t want us to be stuck anymore either. I want us to move forward again, not go around in circles. I’m ready to stop running away from us. I’m not scared anymore. What about you?”

“You have no long idea I’ve waited for you to say that,” Ashley responded with a smile. I’m going to make things right again. I let go of you once and I would be a fool to do it again. I love you, Spence. Ashley kissed Spencer passionately on her lips.
