Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 3: Trees, Monsters, and Swings. Oh, My!)
“What are you doing?” the brunette questioned with a slightly panicked tone.
“I’m gonna go get rid of the monster in the bushes.”
“Okay, don’t mock me.”
“Well, jeez, you sound utterly stupid!” Spencer sighed in frustration, “’Look, Spence, there’s something in the bushes! They move! Blah blah blah bullcrap.’”
"You are so walking home." the brunette crossed her arms over her chest.
Spencer shrugged as she knelt in font of the brush, "I’m over it." she began moving branches out of her way so she could get a look at whatever was in there. She sighed when she could find nothing, but then jumped slightly when she heard a small noise.
"What was that?!" Ashley squeaked.
"I don’t know." the blonde continued her search. She chuckled slightly as she rose to her feet, walking back over to Ashley carrying something. "Ash, meet your monster." Spencer held in her hands a very small kitten about the size of one of her hands. It was a swirl of different colors looking somewhat of a tabby.
Ashley brought her eye level down to Spencer’s hands to get a closer look at the animal.
Meow.
The brunette quickly jumped back, startled from the noise. "God, I hate cats."
The blonde pulled that kitten back closer to herself, "Aww, why? I think they’re adorable. Looks at its little face. So cute."
"Evil." Ashley stated simply and she looked at their surroundings, "C’mon I think I know where we are." she began walking.
Spencer jogged to reach her side, "What’s wrong with cats?"
"Every cat I’ve ever known has always been evil."
"Okay…"
"What, you want proof?" Ashley questioned as she looked at the brunette who was lightly petting the kitten between its ears as it purred. "Here, look at this." Ashley held out her left hand to Spencer, showing her the back of it. "See this scare?" the blonde nodded seeing a small line running down the back of her hand. "Cat."
"Well, not all cats are bad y’know."
"Yeah, not when they’re that size, but when they get bigger some kind of hormone turns them evil." the brunette stated matter-of-factly.
Spencer giggled, "People might even say the same thing about you."
"Okay, not funny." Ashley looked down at the cat in Spencer’s arms, once more. "Seriously, Spence, put that thing back where it was before either of you gets attached."
