    Chapter 5

    “Holy shit it’s cold.”

    A frozen hand reached out and opened the front door. The warm air felt good against his shivering face, he leaned back against the door, basking in it as he recalled the night before. Spending all day and most of the night with the guys practicing had felt great. They were slowly improving and becoming the best band North Grove High has ever seen. “And when I walk into you,” He began singing under his breath walking into the kitchen. “I want to hold your hand and break your neck at the feel of your disgusting skin- Anyone up?” He called out and didn’t care once he caught sight of the stacks of pancakes near the stove. “Shit yeah,” He hurried over and grabbed a plate. “Oh fuck who made these?” He wondered outloud shoving half a pancake into his mouth.

    He hopped up on the counter and drowned his pancake in syrup. ‘Mmmm’ he hummed while chewing. The breakfast was fit for a king, he thought while eating another. He had never had anything that good, even the syrup was different than before. He wondered briefly if his aunt had hired a cook. And then he realized she would never let a stranger into the house. “But fuck,” He swallowed the food in his mouth. “This is really good.” The chain in his belt loop chimmed as he hopped off the couter top. Putting 5 more pancakes onto his plate.

    “Denis.”

    He turned around and straightened up. Arthur stood at the doorway looking deeply upset. Denis knew he was in mad trouble by the way he calmly took a seat at the table and covered his face with his hands. He sat like that for a good 10 second, sighing, he finally dropped his hands and looked at his nephew. Caitlyn had no problems calling Paula and Arthur ‘mama and papa’ but her brother, Denis, was a different story. The quickly rebelling teen referred to them as Aunt and Uncle. “Aunt Paula said to be home by 10, 11 at the latest. Not only did you disobey her but you didn’t even bother calling! I want a good explanation.” The boy brushed his long dark brown hair out of his face. “I’m sorry.” He murmured quietly refusing to make eye contact. “I just lost track of time and fell asleep at Kenny’s.” He lied instead of telling the truth. Getting high at Kenny’s was more along the lines but he wasn’t going tell him that. He had to bite back a smile as last night played in his mind. He had gotten far with the object of his affection. Jessie.

    2. Wow! How I have truly missed this. Such an amazing update. I can’t say enough. Love this part of their journey together. I’m glad that Ashley is getting to see that she can be a great person without the drugs. Can’t wait for more. Great writing. Very inspiring.

    5. ashley’s getting along with spencer’s family even if paula and arthur get suspicious every once in a while. i’m glad spence had ashley talk to denny maybe he won’t do any more pot and the scene where he’d said i really think she’d let you do her was hilarous my favorite scene. ash really needs to call brenda and talk to kyla not just text pms

    6. i was late to school cause i started reading at 6:00 am and stilll havnt touched my homework. but luckly getting home to read this motivated me to finish my 5 mile run for track faster

    11. This is such a sweet chapter, thanks for making so long. lol, i love the long chapters. I’m really glad Ashley is deciding to change. These two are so amazing. There’s just a ton of things I’m liking about the story. I love how Paula and Arthur actually like Ashley in this fic. Go figure. Anyway I can’t wait for the next update, i’ll be patient but it won’t be easy. XD

    12. First the smoke blowing: You are an amazing author! I wish you could just knock these posts out every week but I know good things take time and so alas I must wait, thank you though for sharing your talent.Ok, soo interesting, I get the impression that Paula is either A)passive aggressive or B) just really cool with the fact that Ashley and Spencer are seemingly together… Arthur on the other hand seems a little less like he’d be into their relationship…Time will tell I suppose.I love Denny! He’s like a male Ashley…a little more immature but I like him!Also, interesting form of therapy for Ashley…meeting a well adjusted family seems to have helped put a few things into perspective for her. Maybe she needs to stay out of LA, environment is apparently everything…or maybe what Ashley needs to do is turn her actually family into a better one. Hopefully she reconnects with Kyla and her mother, they seem to hold a meaningful soft spot in her heart.PMS PMS PMS

    13. I cannot even tell you how much I loved this update. I took time to read it (3 or 4 days) because I knew it’s gonna take a while for the next update to be posted, so I wanted to savor reading it. I love what you created between Ashley and Spencer…it’s almost something magical. Everytime I read this story I forget everything around me, no lie. (The prologue still worries me, though). I hope Ashley will manage to stay away from the drugs..she’s much better of without them. It probably is gonna take a while, but I hope you’ll update soon-ish. I’m addicted to this story. :P I really am.

    14. I swear i can never get enough of this story… im waiting for something bad to happen though, things are a little too perfect for the girls… o and i cant wait for Spence and Denny to come out to each other
