Falling down means you have to crawl back up – (Chapter: time heals nothing)

“Hey.” Ashley said smoothly and her soft tones seemed to run over Spencer’s body like hands caressing her. The shorter girl felt her palms get sweaty and her mouth went dry, it amazed her that Spencer had this influence on her body.

“Hi.” As she said hello she suddenly realised just how difficult this was going to be. Their relationship was like a glass bowl that had been dropped upon the floor, and they could glue it back together however the cracks would always be seen.

“So um where do you want to go? I can drive somewhere.” Ashley asked in a quiet voice, that didn’t really sound like Ashley’s usual sexy accent.

“I don’t mind, but I don’t have all night.” Spencer was trying to be more forceful but it did not suit her, yet Ashley understood why she was behaving this way towards her; she expected it; deserved it.

The brunette unlocked the car door and the pair slipped into the car as Ashley put the roof down and began to drive. They sat in silence for a long while; Spencer just looked out to her right watching the world travel by so fast, it reminded her of her life. Ashley on the other hand was trying to think of things to say, being drunk last night had let her by pass her fear but now it had set back in.

“How have you been…Ignore that, it was a stupid question.” Ashley started and then realised how brainless it sounded. Spencer looked at her briefly before turning away again. “So…um…well…” Spencer hid her smile as the girl struggled to find the right words. “you’re not going to make this easy are you?”

“Nope.” She said, with a slight lop sided smile.

“I guess I deserve that.” Ashley said, her mind still trying to find a way to start a conversation. “I’m sorry.”

    “You said that last night.”

“Yeah I know, but I was drunk, and I wanted to repeat it sober so you know I really am sorry.”

“Well it doesn’t change anything, sorry is only a world Ashley.” The brunette winced slightly at having Spencer use her full name.

“That’s why I’m hoping my actions will show it.” Ashley stopped the car and Spencer finally realised where she was, she’d not been paying attention to where they were heading. Her mind had been on thoughts of Ashley so close to her, it had felt like all the breath had left her body.
