    The girl leant up on one elbow, shaking her mop of curls and waking up. Spencer met her eyes, but didn’t move, didn’t speak.

     

    “Hey,” Ashley whispered.

     

    Spencer remained silent. She didn’t want to talk, she didn’t want to say anything. She was just so empty.

     

    There was so much temptation to be furious, just to feel something. Ashley had stopped her getting to her parents. It was Ashley’s fault that she was still alone and feeling like this. It was Ashley’s fault she hadn’t been taken too, going that final step with the family she loved and cherished so much.

     

    It was Ashley’s fault she was alive.

     

    It was thanks to Ashley she was alive.

     

    Thanks to Ashley she could walk, and talk. Thanks to Ashley that she hadn’t underwent the perversions of the Reavers, the horrible fate that awaited anyone crossing their path. It was thanks to Ashley that she could move, and breathe.

     

    Spencer turned her head and buried her face into the pillow.

     

    Seconds later she felt the edge of the bed dint in a little, and then a soft hand on her hair.

     

    “Spencer,”

     

    She shook her head, not wanting to come out.

     

    “Shh, baby, it’s ok.”

     

    “No it’s NOT!” she yelled, turning back to scream at the brunette, rather than muffling her words in the pillow. “It’s not ok, it’s never going to be ok so just stop saying it.”

     

    “Ok,” Ashley said calmly. “I’ll stop.”

     

    Spencer threw the blankets off and launched herself out of bed, stalking off to the bathroom to dress. When she came back, dressed, Ashley was sitting on the edge of her bed tying her boots up.

     

    “I’m going out,” Spencer declared. Pivoting on her heel, she turned her back on the only person she had left in her life, and walked out.

    It had been four days. Four long days since Spencer’s life had been reduced to rubble and tears. Not that the blonde had cried. She hadn’t really hadn’t show many emotions at all. She’d snapped once, three days ago, telling Ashley to stop telling her everything was ok. Then she basically hadn’t been anything but silent.

    1. Oh please say that Spencer is hiding in the ship. I think she is. I really thought this was going to be a semi-happy Spashley story but then you did a complete turnaround and killed off Spencer’s family. Now I have no idea what’s going to happen. But you know what…I like it. I have a feeling that was the point all along. Anyway, love it!!

    2. So I just went and took a shower (was that too much information? probably) and thought about this story some more. See, I told you I was stalking you. Anyway, a thought occured to me. Spencer’s probably going to want to open up a can of whoop ass on the bad people, isn’t she? She can’t just let them get away with that. Isn’t Glen still out there in space to help her? Just my thoughts.
