From the Beginning – (Chapter: Chapter 2: Now I’m a Believer)

    (Friday night)

Just as the clock turned to 8 the doorbell rang at the Carlin residence. Spencer, clad in the tightest pair of low rider jeans she could find, and the only shirt she deemed acceptable for the occassion, casually strode down the stairs and opened the door to reveal Aiden, ribbed shirt under his sports jacket and jeans with rips in the knees.

"Bye Mom, bye dad." Spencer hollered over her shoulder in the hope of making a quick exit.

    "Home by midnight Spence."

"C’mon dad, 1 at least. This is LA."

"Okay, 1, but not a minute later."

Spencer practically pushed Aiden out the door and they headed out for her first trip to Grey, but Spencer was sure it wouldn’t be the last.

The silence between the two in the car was almost deafening when Aiden finally broke down and started to talk.

"So, met many people since you got here?"

"Nah, we’ve only been in town a couple of weeks and yesterday was the first time I was able to get away from the house, what with all the unpacking and cleaning that had to be done."

Not much else was said after that, and both breathed a sigh of relief when the black and white sign reading "Grey" came into view.

"This is it. Not much to look at from the outside, but it’s the place to be in LA on a Friday night. Let’s go. I’ll introduce you to some of my friends."

Spencer jumped out of the vehicle and followed behind Aiden as they entered the club. His friends, it turned out, were not a bunch of couples as Spencer had feared. They sat in the far corner, and Spencers eyes immediately shot to the girl sitting on the end with long curly hair. It was the same girl from the beach.

"Well, this is Ashley," said Aiden starting the introductions.

Spencer didn’t hear much after that. There was something about this girl that she couldn’t shake, and it seemed, Ashley had a curiosity for her as well. Spencer felt her mouth get dry as she extended her hand to Ashley, "Spencer Carlin." Her ears burned when their hands touched and she felt a strange butterfly feeling come into her stomach.

    1. I thought it funny that Spencer didn’t have much to talk about with Aiden on the way to Gray’s, but she had plenty to talk about on the way home after meeting Ashley. Spencer is already smitten with Ashley. LOVE IT! PMS
