Future Irony – (Chapter: 5-Looking Up)

Three hours later they were landing at the Indianapolis Municipal Airport. Madison looked at her cell phone, it said 6:30. “Jorey, is this right?” Madison handed Jorey her cell phone.

Jorey looked at it, “Yeah, its right. Why?”

“Wow, I didn’t think that eight hours of my life could go by so fast.”

“Well in all actuality in California it’s only 3:30. Indiana’s three hours ahead. Oh yeah, after we get our bags there’ll be a car waiting for us.”

    “You get car service?”

“One of the many perks of being in the pros. Plus my car is kind of at my house.”

“That 80 thousand dollar house that you were telling me about?”

“Unfortunately, no. But that house is almost done. Would you want to go see it?”

Madison linked her arm through Jorey’s as they grabbed their bags, “Are you kidding?! I would love to go see it.”

“All right. When we leave here I’ll have the driver take us there. And the place I’m staying until then is the house that I grew up in. It’s pretty small but I’m keeping it. I figured that my dad would like it that way.”

“It’s the only thing you have left of him huh?”

“Basically. Plus it has so many memories in it; I’d just hate to get rid of it.”

“Well it’s good that you decided to keep it. I wish my mom would’ve kept our house.”

“She sold the house that you lived in when we were going out?”

“Yeah. She sold it about three years ago. I was furious about it.”

“It was all that you had left of your dad. I can understand that.”

Madison looked at Jorey, “How’d you know that?”

“Before we got together Ashley told me every single detail about your life. She told me about how your dad was a drug dealer. That was one reason why I didn’t want to tell you about my whole pill-popping stage. I figured that you’d think that I’d let you down like he did.”

Madison stopped walking and continued to hold on to Jorey’s arm, “You knew that and you never let it stand in your way?”
