Honey and the Moon – (Chapter: Chapter One: I See That Look In Your Eyes.)
That night falling asleep wasn’t like taking candy from a baby. It was like taking candy from a 300 pound six-year old boy. I just laid there with my hands behind my head, listening to Elliott Smith, and starring at the roof. Pretty much brooding over the fact that I let her walk out like that. I kept thinking about how she should of just told her Dad to fuck off in a nice little Spencer way. I was trying to convince myself that it was her fault. I was just trying to escape from the fact that I let her leave without so much as a kiss goodbye. I also couldn’t keep my mind from thinking that I didn’t deserve a girl like that. That a girl like me doesn’t deserve someone so perfect. And of course, I couldn’t help but think that I would just wind up breaking her heart. It really scared me to think that I would probably be the one giving her the heartache. I knew deep down that nothing in the world was more important to me than Spencer, but at that point, I just didn’t think I could handle it

By the time my alarm went off in the morning, I decided that I would do everything I possibly could to make Spencer happy. I would change for the better. I wouldn’t even look at other girls, wouldn’t drink till I passed out, hell I would even quit smoking. I got up with a purpose. I started my morning ritual by flicking on my stereo system. The Elliott Smith from last night filled the room, and that definitely wasn’t what I needed. I threw in a Rilo Kiley c.d. and started getting ready. I put on my jeans with the rips in all the right places, and my favorite polo shirt. I debated calling Spencer to see if she wanted a ride, but I had a better plan.
I made a quick stop at Starbucks and showed up at the Carlin residence unannounced at eight. I had a latte for me and a mocha for Spencer. I stood out front by her room and looked around for a rock to throw. I found one, lifted and threw. Of course as the rock was sailing towards the glass, Spencer decided to open the window and stick her head out.
