She woke up to someone knocking on her front door. She blinked a few times before looking at the clock to see the time. 12:15 pm. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, trying to gain some strength to get up from where she was, but she couldn’t seem to. So she yelled from where she was.

            “Come in!” she leaned her head back on her knees, waiting for whoever it was to come in and bother her.

            “It’s locked Spence, where is the key?” she recognized the voice, but she didn’t want to see him right now. Why is he even here? She wondered to herself.

            “It’s underneath the mat Aiden. Put it back when you’re done.” She yelled again. She stretched out her arms and legs before curling them against herself once again. She heard the front door open and then close. Shallow sounding footsteps became louder as Aiden approached the kitchen. He stopped at the doorway and saw her sitting on the floor. He walked over to her and took a seat on the floor next to her.

            “You didn’t show up to work today. Henry asked me to come and check on you. Is everything okay? You look like you’ve been crying.” He said, rubbing her shoulder lightly. She looked at him before tears began to run down her face once again. She shook her head and inhaled a deep breath.

            He looked at her intently, waiting for her to spill her guts to him, only she didn’t right away. She just cried. He put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her into him, holding her tightly. She cried into his side, her arms resting around his body. Her tears just fell in full force. He rested his chin on the top of her head.

            “It’s okay Spence, don’t cry.” He whispered to her gently, trying to get her to stop crying. It wasn’t working though.

            “Sh-she left me Aiden. I-I don’t know what I did. She l-left me a note an-an nothing else. No ph-phone number or an-anything.” She said through muffled breathes.

            Aiden pulled her closer to him, hugging her even tighter. “Oh my gosh, Spencer, I’m so sorry. When did it happen?” He asked, running his hand along her shoulder soothingly. She pulled away from him and picked up the note that was still on the floor. She handed it to him and wrapped her arms around him once again. He put one arm around her shoulder and with his other; he held the note and read it. He blinked a couple of times before completely processing what he had just read. There were no words that he could think of to make her pain subside, so he just held her as she cried.
