Kardia Mou – (Chapter: The Beginning)

It was the first sign of our complete differences, but somehow we still got along wonderfully.  I totally bought into the sexual revolution.  I didn’t have any qualms with talking about sex or my sex life or the sex life of others.  Spencer, however, as evidenced by the blush, very much liked to keep that part of her life as private as possible.  She often said that she just wasn’t a very sexual person.  She didn’t even really masturbate.  She was constantly shocked by my openness.  In a way I think that this helped her open up to me though.  I played the drums, she played the clarinet.  I liked to procrastinate all of my homework until the last possible hour, and she liked to have everything done as soon as possible.  I was a mess, and she was incredibly neat.  Everything had it’s place, and I often felt bad about the way my stuff was thrown around the room, while her things remained neatly confined where they belonged.  She loved the OC, and I thought it was sad how much people cared about a stupid teen soap.  Well, that was before she forced me to watch it, and I inevitably ended up addicted as well.  I idolized Alex with her punk rock attitude and purple streaked hair.  She idolized Summer, mostly because Spencer was in love with Seth Cohen.

It didn’t take long for the two of us to fall into a very comfortable routine.  During the week, we would study until late at night, she would call Aiden, and they would invariably get into a huge argument and make up again before the end of the phone call.  She would hang up and say she was going to break up with him.  I would roll my eyes to myself, because she’d been expressing this intention for weeks.  We would both get into our beds and then watch an episode of the OC before going to sleep.  On the weekends we would hang out with our larger group of friends, and go out to the parties or just have people over to drink in our dorm room.  I learned early on that Spencer couldn’t control herself very well after a few drinks.  Often this led to more fights with Aiden when she called him very drunk after my advising her against it.
