“Kyla, can you at least tell us what happened now?” Spencer pressed

She was out of excuses at this point in the night.

Let’s see, she was able to avoid our questioning on the walk back to our villa by telling us how miserable her flight down was. Back at the villa she had moved on from the flight to the airport and the luggage belt that she always has wanted to ride and by the time we got into the car she was giving us the life story of her driver from the airport, which has brought us up to the present. So no, we haven’t gotten a word in edgewise and Spencer jumped on the first opportunity we got. I set down all three drinks on the wooden table and slide them to their respective owners, I felt bad for leaving my girlfriend to listen to the excruciating details of her friends ramblings, but there’s only so much I could take. Kyla sits across from us at the small round table in the back of the bar, out of breath and without any more ammo.

She sighed and rubbed her forehead as she took a sip of her fruity beverage, and when I say sip I mean that it’s almost gone.

“I feel weird, I mean it is your brother” she finally says after she coughs a bit from the coldness of the drink

“Kyla, you were my friend before you were Aiden’s girlfriend” she reassures her which eases Kyla’s tension

“I’m not sure, we broke up about a week ago” she starts

Choking is coming from my blonde next to me and I immediately rest my hand on her back, ready to assist her if need be.

“A week?!” she practically shrieks over the music

Kyla looks down shyly, avoiding her gaze, “You weren’t answering your phone, and I didn’t want to disrupt your vacation but I needed someone to talk to” she confesses

Spencer’s palm finds Kyla’s fidgeting hands and she calms her nerves instantly with her touch, I know because she does it to me all the time.

Kyla’s regretful eyes close for a few seconds before she opens them up again, no traces of the remorse, guilt or sadness that were there moments ago.
