    Chapter One: Wet Roads

    “You’re sure you have to go to work today?” Tempted a scantily clad Spencer as she stood, leaning against the kitchen counter in a pair of boxer shorts and a tank top. A small smile resided on her features as she crossed her arms, blue eyes resting on the girl in front of her.

    “Babe, I’ve already taken 5 sick days this month…” Objected the brunette, although her eyes did linger over Spencer’s figure. It was definitely a tempting offer.

    “I know, but it’s such a rainy day today.” She moved closer, her hand toying with the waistline of the girl’s designer khaki skirt, “I mean, it’d just be so nice to go back to bed for the whole afternoon…”

    The blue eyes of the brunette rolled slightly as she smiled, placing a hand on her hip, “…Spencer…” She moaned, sounding torn. Staying in bed all day sounded so much more appetizing than going to work. But, work was work, and it needs to get done.

    “Sarah…” Spencer replied back, giving a little wicked smile as she continued to toy with the girl’s waistband.

    “I’ve really got to go…” Sarah spoke, her resolve hardening. Leaning forward she brushed a soft kiss on Spencer’s lower lip as she ran a hand over her cheek, “I’ll be home in time for dinner, alright?”

    “….Fine.” She relented finally, pulling a little bit away from her as she huffed a disappointed sigh, “Be careful out there. You know how California drivers are on wet roads…”

    “No worries Spence. I’ll see you tonight.” After another quick kiss, Sarah swiveled, swiping her keys off the counter as she passed by. Opening the front door, she turned, smiling as Spencer gave a small wave good bye, “Love you.” She spoke before disappearing out the door.

    “Love you too.” Spencer spoke to the shut door, feeling utterly alone in this house. Why on earth did they get such a big place anyways? She moved over to a window, watching the sheets of liquid dump themselves onto the slick black pavement. Rivulets of water streamed down the window pane as the gutters overflowed and made rivers down the street. It’s been a long time since there has been a good rain like this, and the parched earth isn’t quick to absorb the moisture.
