    She’s Unresponsive Because Your Irresponsible
    Chapter Five: Debate Exposes Doubt

    “Hey Spence.” I greet as I take a seat in the chair beside my fellow blonde, smirking as she jumps a little in surprise. She pulls the headphones from her ears and dog-ears the page she is on, setting the book aside.

    “Glen, you scared me…” She complains, although the edge of her lips is twisted up into a smile. Tucking her knees up into her chest, she looks a lot like she did 10 years ago when she was just 16 and only beginning to figure things out.

    “Your welcome.” I reply as I pick up the book she is reading, glancing over the cover. All I need to see is the name J.D. Robinson and I quickly set it back down again. It figures she’d be out here reading some romance novel.

    “Don’t worry, I’ll let you read it next.” Spencer teases with a smile, and I am relieved to hear her joking around again. She hasn’t exactly been happy-go-lucky as of late.

    “Thanks but no thanks. I prefer plots that actually change from book to book.”  I glance over the corny cover image and give a small chuckle, “Let me guess, it’s all abut some female character who is too blind to see the ‘amazing’ man right in front of her, and almost realizes too late.” I deepen my voice a few octaves as I speak, acting like the narrator of a commercial.

    Spencer bats me in the shoulder and rolls her eyes at my antics, “Jealousy.” She excuses my behavior with a dismissive wave in my direction as I utter a small laugh. “Any reason you wanted to talk to me Glen, or did you just come out here to give me a hard time?” She questions with an arched brow, her thumb fanning the edge of the pages.

    I am silent, looking down at my hands for a moment as I try and choose my next words. I have a hard time figuring out Ashley. One minute she is this beautiful, confident, girl next door, and then in the blink of an eye she becomes reserved and self conscious. I wonder which one is the real her. Or maybe she’s both. “You know, you ought to try and give her a chance. She isn’t all that bad.”

    7. thank god for glen…never thought i would ever say that, but thank god for him….i hope when spencer and ashley do talk, they work out their problen because it seems to me they both want each other again, but there is some resistence….but I think that can be overcome…..pms…awesome update.
