    “Yeah, but the words they…” I can tell she is struggling to figure out how to voice her thoughts in a manner I might understand, “The words come short, you know what I mean? Like, there isn’t a word for the way I feel or the way I hurt, there is no way she could possibly comprehend it.”

    I am a little surprised at how much she is divulging, although it is a pleasant surprise, “You’d be surprised what people can understand.” I reply, unrelenting in my position, “I’ve talked to her Spence. I think she gets what your feeling far better than you give her credit for.”

    “What do you want from me Glen?” She asks suddenly after a long pause, her eyes demanding. Her arms are wrapped around her knees, hugging them in as she stares, trying to figure me out.

    “I just want you to try and consider talking to her. It’d be good for you.” I give a little nod, just for emphasis, before rising to my feet, “And now I am going to go make some lunch.”

    “Glen wait!” Spencer calls after me as I begin to walk away, and I turn to face her expectantly, “I’ll consider it.” She doesn’t seem too terribly enthusiastic, but I can tell she is serious.

    “Good! Now I’ll maybe even make you lunch too.” I reward her with a satisfied smile before turning and continuing my path up to the house, leaving her to stew in  her thoughts like she does so well.

    Since when did Glen become the wise figure in my life? I could swear that just a few days ago he was this shallow, immature little boy who spent all his free time chasing tail. I guess he has always had a soft side, but seeing him show it so willingly is a bit of a shock. Ashley must have really worked some magic for him to go out of his way to talk to me about it. Wouldn’t be the first time she’s used her charms to get what she wanted. I think bitterly, developing a sour taste in my mouth as I lean back in my seat.

    I wish I was strong enough to face Ashley, stand toe to toe and tell her how much I hurt. But, what would that really help? Would it give me comfort? No. Satisfaction? No. Pleasure? Definitely, no. All it would do is make her cry and beg, and make me feel awful. I couldn’t stand to watch those brown eyes crumble, or hear her plead for forgiveness. But then what DO I want to hear from her? I know she is sorry, I know she loved me, I know it was a mistake on her behalf, so what is there even left for her to say to me? Nothing. Glen doesn’t know what he is talking about, speaking to Ashley would be a mistake.

    7. thank god for glen…never thought i would ever say that, but thank god for him….i hope when spencer and ashley do talk, they work out their problen because it seems to me they both want each other again, but there is some resistence….but I think that can be overcome…..pms…awesome update.
