    Memoirs of Her Scent

“Yes, Alice,” I whispered, tasting her name in my lips as I always did each time I called for her. It always fascinated me how I never got tired of how right her name felt being said through my granite lips or how melodious my name sounded coming from hers; just as right, but best of all was the knowledge that Alice felt the same. After all, she was the one that had come to me knowing that I had been looking for her even before I had known that I had been looking for her and that she would be the best thing that would ever happen to me, the only one I would need.

“They’re here!” she said excitedly dancing in the balls of her feet as she pressed her lips to mine. And sure enough, Edward and Bella had arrived.

“Are you ready?” I heard Edward ask her.

“No. But lets go,” was Bella’s nervous reply and I heard Edward chuckle, probably at her bravery as they entered the vampires’ den, which I unconventionally considered a home, we were a family after all. I frowned, she was nervous alright, just not the kind of nervous I would have expected-

“What are you thinking?” Alice interrupted, sincerely curious, just like a kitten I couldn’t help but chuckle. “What?” She asked sternly. I raised my eyebrows at her but let slip my comeback reply, we didn’t need an argument to be issued at the present time.

“Nothing,” I sighed dramatically, knowing that it would annoy her. I never did say that I didn’t have time to spare for a tiny bit of revenge, now did I?

“Jasper-” she began, eyes narrowing but she was interrupted by Edwards following words.

    “Where are Alice and Jasper?”

“Come on,” I urged taking hold of her hand, “Edward’s calling us, let’s not be rude and meet his Bella.” Alice pouted almost on the verge of arguing but then remembered her previous excitement, and so we where at the foot of the stairs as Bella hugged Esme, stepped back and searched the room for us. When her eyes met Alice’s, Alice danced her way towards her “Bella!” she said in sing-song and wrapped her arms around her in form of greeting. Bella, I could tell, was shocked by Alice’s reaction but none the less happy and relieved; probably thinking that Alice’s mannerism of greeting her was very much like a human’s, which admittedly was probably right. While they embraced I saw her eyes linger on mine, I inclined my head in greeting.
