    Mothers' Coherent Regards

Following the sound of the television, I walked slowly, almost tiptoeing, to the living room in anticipation. What I saw when I got there, however, made freeze.

There Edward and Bella sat, sleeping and covered in a thick, beige blanket, with the TV still on. The sight sent chills up my spine. It made my heart grow heavy.

Though they were covered by huge and heavy material, any one capably able would be able to see the position in which they sat. Bella was sitting semi-sideways on Edwards lap, her head resting gently against his shoulder. Edwards head rested gently on her head, his sleeping mouth covered by a wave of dark brown hair. And peeking from the blanket were two hands folded tightly together, fingers lovingly intertwined. There was an air about them. An air… so secretive… so loving that it made it hard to watch. They were like statues from some romantic-legend or other. A god-like man who would walk through fire for his love. Who shielded her from anything that might harm her. And a woman, a beautiful woman, who would give up anything– if not everything– to be with the man she loved. Anything to be with him.

Even if it sounded a little silly, like something someone would say after reading an enticing romance novel of some-sorts, it was true. That is the feeling I got when I watched them together now, and the feeling that I got when they last visited me together.

It was a warm feeling. Warm, yet, for some unknown reason, so unbelievably tragic. It was hard to accept, almost. Unpalatable.

“Edward.” My eyes darted in Bella’s direction as she whispered the name of the man who held her in her arms. She said it again, and sighed.

A mother should appreciate a man who would protect and lover her daughter as much as Edward did, shouldn’t she? She should be more than happy. She should feel blissful; leaving her daughter in the hands of someone who would cherish her. Love her.

But that feeling was unconditionally small when I saw these two together.

I felt worried. I was frightened. Scared, because I couldn’t shake the feeling of Bella– someday– disappearing. Looking at them both sleeping there, together, made me remember just how fragile they both looked; as if they would disappear together to a place I could not get to. Thoughts like that shrouded my mind constantly. It made me a nervous-wreck. It caused formidable nightmares at night.
