My smile falters with you – (Chapter: i want you to be happy)

“How about one last dance then?” Ashley said standing up and holding out her hand, with a wide smile Spencer accepted it, as the shorter girl lead them to the dance floor. Finally upon the dance floor Ash stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Spencer’s waist, the taller girl didn’t need another invite and looped her arms around the brunettes neck. Slowly they moved their bodies swaying to the beautiful tune floating through the air. The pair wished that the song was never going to end and they could stay like this forever…Together.

“If I lay here, would you lay with me…” Ashley softly sang the words that drifted into Spencer’s ear. It was the perfect moment, Spencer thought; in years to come she would always recall this moment with a smile.

Ashley thought about telling the other girl everything that she was thinking but she didn’t want anything to come between them at this moment, if they never got their chance this was all the would have to hang on to. They could both tell that the song was coming to a close and the pair seemed to hold each other tighter, as if trying to cling to this moment in time for just a second longer. The final beats filtered through the air and reluctantly the pair let go, keeping eye contact till the very end.

Ashley didn’t want to speak up first knowing that it would break the spell that they both stood under at that moment. However nothing is built to last, then she realised that the night didn’t have to end here.

“Well I’m done waiting around, you want a ride home?” Ashley asked the blonde who was getting lost in dark eyes.

“You know what, yes.” Spencer said, she was done with waiting for Aiden, she was happier in Ash’s company anyway. “Now?”

“Yeah, lets go.” She led the way out casting a look behind her to check the other girl was following.

Unlike the night Ashley had been in the car with Sophia, here the conversation began almost as soon as they buckled up, and it was natural.

“What are you doing next Thursday?” Spencer asked with a small grin.

“You remember?” The driver looked to the passenger for a second before looking back to the road.
