“But…”
“But?”
“There are two things to consider here.”
“Ok, what are they?”
“First there’s all the crazy pregnancy stuff…”
“Right…”
“But don’t you think she meant something when she said she wanted to be committed to you in every way?”
“I guess.”
“Maybe this baby talk is just code for a walk down the aisle.”
“You think she wants to get married?!”
“Come on, you can’t be that surprised. You and Spence have been taking baby steps—no pun intended—down that aisle for years.”
“But we just got back together!”
“I know, but aren’t you back together for good this time?”
“I guess. I mean, that’s the plan.”
“Then why not? If this is really forever, make it official, Ash. Ask her to marry you.”
“But…but…”
“But nothing. You want to know what I think? I think you’re scared of losing your freedom.”
“What are you talking about? I’m the one who’s been chasing Spencer for a year. I’m obviously not scared of losing my supposed ‘freedom.’”
“There’s a big difference between dating Spencer and being Spencer’s wife. A difference that scares the living shit out of you. Admit it.”
“Fine, maybe you’re right. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love her.”
“Of course you love her. That’s obvious. But you have to figure out if this is the one you want to settle down with, raise kids with…you have to figure out if this time you two are in it for the long-haul. And if you find out that you are, then great. If not…” Aiden trailed off, taking a sip of his beer.
“When did you get to be so wise, Mr. Dennison?”
“It’s the beer talking,” Aiden said with a grin, “besides, this stuff is a no-brainer. You and Spencer are meant to be. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out.”
“Even if we are, marriage is a big step. I’m the product of a bitter divorce. I know how that stuff can be. I would never want a kid of mine going through what I went through with my mom and dad. I would want him or her to know that the people who brought them into the world are solid…and sane.”
“Your sanity is questionable, but I don’t doubt you’d make an awesome mom.”
“What about you?”
“What about me?”
“Are you ready to give up that golden sperm of yours?”
“I gave it up to you once before, didn’t I?”
“God, don’t remind me.”
“Hey, you asked. And you know if and when the time comes, I’m here for you.”
“I know…thank you.”
“Anytime. Now go figure out if meatloaf and jello are what you want.”

wow, cant believe spencer just threw that on her after, what was it? 15 hours? but i totally can see where both of them are coming from. i’m glad to see an update, especially one as good as this.

meatloaf and jello weird combination just like ash and spence, two opposites that taste great together, well if meatloaf did taste good with jello never tried it so don’t know but you get the analogy i made. lol great update can’t wait for the next post and i agree with Aiden i think spence was hinting at marriage with make every commintment to her…

I see both viewpoints here. Ashley wants to make sure their relationship is solid before they bring a little person into the picture. Spencer knows this is it for her and is ready to make some major commitments. But can you really blame Ashley for being hesitant about making those commitments? Didn’t Spencer say last time that they were going to be together forever and they still broke up? I would be hesitant too. I don’t really think it’s fair for Spencer to make such demands when she’s the one who has been hesitant about their relationship all along. Why would Ashley suddenly not be afraid to commit to Spencer after Spencer’s history? I think maybe Ashley’s going to have to take a leap of faith with this one. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Great update!!

Awesome update. I truly love this story, you never cease to amaze me with your talented writing skills. I can’t wait until Ashley’s mind catches up with her heart and she makes a full and complete commitment to the love of her life. Spashley with a baby…now that’s sweet. PMS
