North of Somewhere: All Grown Up – (Chapter: Bonus)

“No, I’m just visiting. I’m on vacation.”

“You just needed a break from work or what?”

“Actually, I quit my job awhile ago.”

    “Wow, really? Congratulations.”

    “Yeah, it’s a good thing.”

    “So are you seeing anyone?”

    “Yeah, I am.”

    “Who’s the lucky lady?”

    “Spencer.”

Erin was silent for a moment, obviously surprised to hear the blonde’s name again after all this time, “Really?”

“Really. We just got married a couple days ago.”

“So you’re on your honeymoon then?”

    “Yeah.”

“You should’ve said. I don’t want to keep you from your wife.”

Erin said the word as though it was contagious.

    “She’s ordering room service.”

“Oh, I see. Well, when married life starts to weigh on you, give me a call.”

    “Whatever, Erin.”

“Come on, we both know this isn’t your thing. What, you’re going to live in some wasteland suburbia with your pretty blonde wife and all your pretty little kids until you fucking die? I don’t think so. The Ashley I know…”

“You don’t know me—any version of me. Goodbye.”

    “Ashley, wait!”

    “What?”

“I’m sorry, ok? What can I say? I’m jealous.”

    “Why would you be jealous?”

“You know how it is. You get tired of the one-night stands and all the different faces and all the different beds. Maybe there’s a little part of me that wants what you have with Spencer.”

    “Then go after it.”

“It’s not as easy for everyone else as it was for you.”

“Oh, please! Me and Spencer…easy? I don’t think so.”

“I always knew you two would end up together in the end. Everyone did.”

    “Well, is there anything else?”

    “What do you mean?”

“Is there anything else that you needed? Because other then that, I should really get going, Erin.”

“If you ever want to get together…have a few drinks, catch up…you know how to reach me.”

    “Yeah.”

“Ok, well I guess I’ll hear from you?”

“Sure,” Ashley said, knowing it would never happen.

    “Great, well…bye.”

    “Bye.”

As soon as she placed her phone on the dresser, Ashley released a sigh of relief.

“How did that go?” Spencer asked, as if she had been patiently awaiting the goodbye portion of the conversation.

Ashley smiled, “I’ll put it this way, I missed you.”

“I missed you too. We have lots of food coming so I hope you’re hungry.”

    “I am.”

Then there was silence between them, Spencer staring into the tiny brown orbs in front of her and Ashley returning her gaze.

“Come here,” Spencer says, motioning with her hand.

Ashley walked towards the blonde, noticing how hot the room had suddenly become.

“What did she say to you?” Spencer asked, slinking her arms around Ashley’s neck.

“The usual Erin bullshit. She’s in town and she wanted to know if we could…you know…”

    “Hook up?” Spencer asked plainly.

    “Well…yeah.”

Spencer nodded, “I can’t blame her. You are super amazing in bed.”

Ashley blushed, “It’s not even that, you know? I think she just loves knowing she has…had me at her disposal or whatever.”

“Yeah, sounds a lot like Lindsay.”

“Oh God. I had managed to forget all about her.”

“Yeah, well I haven’t been so lucky. I still can’t get over the fact that she pretended to be my friend for so many years, pretended to have feelings for me…pretended to love me just for her own ego. It’s insane.”

“For the record I never liked her, but I never thought she’d turn out to be such a crazy, crazy sociopath either.”

“More like for the broken record. You told me you didn’t like her the first time you met her!”

Ashley smiled, pointing to her head, “Intuition, Spencer. I swear I have a sixth sense or something.”

Spencer smirked but before she could reply, there was a knock on the door.

“I predict…” Ashley said, closing her eyes as if in deep thought, “I predict that’s the food.”

Spencer shook her head, swinging the door open.

“Hi, you ordered room service?” the man at the door asked with a smile.

“See?” Ashley said, grabbing the tray.

    1. What do you mean the ending is anything but fluffy and enjoy it while we can? You have me a little worried with that statement. After taking us through hell and back with these two, please don’t end things badly for them. You evil genius you. At least Ashley didn’t hide anything from Erin or Spencer about her current situation. Open communication is always the key. I’ll be sad when this story ends. Especially if you end it without Spashley together. Please don’t?! :(

    3. Thank you for the bonus chapter I liked the way Spencer handled Erin calling Ashley, very grown up. Great chapter! You indicated that the final chapter is no where near to fluff. I’m intrigued and scared at the same time. Looking forward to the finale! :) Post soon!
