“Rach!”

“Why…why are you doing this?” Rachel asked, taking the seat across from Spencer.

“What do you mean?”

“What? You need closure? You’re about to marry me! What do you need from her? What do you need, Spencer?” Rachel said, her voice suddenly filled with a contempt that Spencer never knew was there.

“It’s not about that. We were friends, ok? Sometimes I miss having her as a friend.”

“Whatever.”

“I’m telling the truth!” Spencer exclaimed, the deep pools of blue forming tears that were slowly falling down her face.

“You’re still in love with her, aren’t you?”

“What? No! Of course not, what are you talking about?”

“I don’t know…I…I just don’t know, Spence…”

“You have to believe me, Rachel. I promise. I just want to be her friend, ok?” the blonde replied, the tears falling more heavily now, “ok? Please, you have to listen to me.”

“I’m listening. I’m listening, Spencer. It’s just that I don’t believe you. I never do when it comes to her.”

“We broke up!”

“She broke up with you!” Rachel screamed, shooting up from her chair, “it had nothing to do with growing apart or moving on or whatever. She left you. Get over it.”

“Are you trying to hurt me?”

“Just admit that you still love her.”

“I love her.”

“Admit that you’re still in love with her.”

“No, because it’s not true.”

“It is! It is true!”

“It’s not true!” Spencer said, unable to contain her anger now.

“Is that right?”

“That’s right.”

“Then prove it. You go see her tomorrow, Spence. You go see her and come back to me. And when you come back to me, make sure that you’re all mine this time. I love you…and I believe that you love me back but it’s not the same kind of love. I love everything about you…even the part that still belongs to her.”

            Spencer felt something in that moment…something that pulled at her heart. She could try to convince herself that it was her future wife’s words making their way inside her and claiming her as only Rachel’s. However, she knew that would be untrue.

“How often do you wanna rush home just to kiss the back of my neck?” she asked, testing her fiancée…testing her future.
