“I mean…I don’t know. I can’t wait to see you. I think about you a lot.”

“How do you feel about the way I like to eat pretzels in bed?”

“It’s a little…annoying, but you have a lot of other great qualities that make up for that one.”

“Wh…what’s better than being inside me?”

“That one’s easy. Nothing. Nothing is better than being inside you.”

            Deny it all she wanted, Spencer was anxious about seeing Ashley all day. She practically gave her kids a free day just so she could think about what she would say to her former lover. It had been months since their last sober conversation and over a year since the last time they saw each other. It had not gone well. This meeting was when Spencer begged Ashley to give them another chance. Ashley had been cold, informing the blonde that she had moved on a long time ago.

“Ms. Carlin!”

“Yes, Brian?” Spencer said, instantly pulled back into the real world.

“Caitlin cut all my hair off, see?” the boy said, turning around so his horrified teacher could get a good view of his new bald spot.

“Great…just great.”

            Ashley was a wreck. She had taken the day off just to prepare for her reunion with Spencer. The preparation included pacing a path into the tile floor and talking to herself. Finally at eight o’clock, there was a soft knock on the door. Ashley opened it eagerly, excited to let her eyes view the sight that was Spencer Carlin.

“Hi,” the blonde said, obviously nervous and unsure.

“Hey…you look amazing.”

“Thanks, this is a new shirt.”

“Well, it looks…amazing…on you.”

“Thanks,” Spencer said, a small laugh escaping her perfect lips.

“Come in. I ordered take-out. Do you want any? Did you eat?”

“I’m not really all that hungry.”

“Ok, well do you want to watch a movie? I have a million. Or we could play a game. I have Checkers or maybe we could…”

“Ash, calm down. We’ve known each other forever. There’s no reason to be nervous. It’s just me.”

“But you make me nervous,” Ashley confessed, taking Spencer’s hand in hers.

“I…I…I…”

“Who’s nervous now?” the brunette asked with flashing a classic Ashley grin.
