One week later, Spencer and Rachel sat in the over-decorated office of their new wedding planner, Susan.
“So, you two are trying to put together a little commitment ceremony…is that right?” Susan said, her tone bordering on condescension.
“Um, yes,” Rachel said, grabbing Spencer’s hand.
“Great! So what kind of ceremony are you looking to have?”
“Well, I have a lot of family and friends coming. So, there’s obviously that to consider. I was thinking of a big church, something really ornate and…”
“Wait…you want to get married in a church?” Spencer asked, speaking up for the first time since they had arrived.
“Well of course, Spence. You’ve always known that I come from a Catholic family.”
“So do I. But that doesn’t mean I want to get married in some big, old church.”
“Ok, fine,” Rachel replied, obviously annoyed, “what do you want?”
“I was thinking something simple…on the beach, maybe.”
“My mother hates the beach.”
“Your mother hates everything!” Spencer exclaimed, turning to face her fiancée.
“She does not!”
“If I might say something,” Susan said, a smile plastered on her face, “there are ways to compromise. Perhaps the wedding can be in a church and the reception can be on the beach. How about that, girls?”
“Whatever,” Rachel said, crossing her arms.
“Fine,” Spencer agreed, glaring at Susan.
Susan grinned from ear to ear, “See? I put the ‘pro’ in ‘compromise!’”
Ashley sifted through paperwork as she sat behind her expensive, black lacquer desk. Her office was on the 10th floor and had an amazing view of the ocean that Ashley never had the time to enjoy. Her job was demanding, but she loved it. It was something she was good at, something she understood—unlike Spencer Carlin. She hadn’t spoken to her since that morning a week ago and every minute without hearing the sound of her voice was an hour of torture.
“Ms. Davies, you have a call on line one,” her secretary said over the phone intercom.
“Thanks, Jan,” Ashley said, before taking the call, “Hello, this is Ashley Davies speaking.”
“Hey.”
“Um…hi,” Ashley replied, confused.
“It’s Spencer.”
“Oh! Oh…well…hi…hey, how are you?”
“I really need to see you, Ash.”
“Spencer, I’m not going to help you cheat on Rachel. I just can’t.”

Crazy stuff, poor Ashley though. I’m feeling sorry for her, I’ve been through an extremely simliar situation and I can see where she’s coming from with this whole “I’ll do absolutely anything to keep you in my life..” thing. It definitly opens up a few old wounds at my end. Anyway, Great story, keep it up!
Ah, good stuff. I’ve been reading from the beginning and I must say that after all these surprises I hope Spencer comes to her senses and returns to Ms.Davies.

$1000000 bet to anyone who thinks Ashley is going to try to be nice and then it will get to hard and she will blow up about something small. You cant be friends with your ex’s fiancé when your still totally in love with your ex….you can kill the fiancé you can punch or kick them you can make a fool out of them but you can’t be friends lol. And Spencer needs to wake the fuck up Ashley is trying so hard to keep Spencer in her life even as a friend what the hell is Spencer afraid of if Ashley is even willing to just be friends with her. Sorry I know this is long as hell but come on Spence wake the fuck up!!
Ohh and FYI I really don’t have a million dollars lol!
