    Ashley finally meets her replacement.

     

                You could say that Spencer Carlin was nervous as she prepared three place settings at her dining room table. You could say that she was nervous as she clumsily changed into a loose-fitting sundress and sandals and brushed her long blonde hair until not a single hair was out of place. You could say that she was nervous as she checked once again to make sure the quaint house she shared with her fiancée was completely spotless. However, that would be the under-statement of the century. Ashley was coming to dinner, meeting Rachel, and it was all Spencer could do not to moisten her nerves with booze. The entire day had been a delicate mixture of heaven and hell as she let her father’s famous chili simmer on the stove. Spencer was excited about having Ashley in her world, but she knew that it could be dangerous. Seeing Ashley in her house, talking with her Rachel, and sitting on her couch could catapult Ashley into her very fragile reality—her reality with a very fragile Rachel Cummings.

    “Mmm…Spence, that chili is amazing,” Rachel said, wrapping her arms around Spencer, “and I love this dress. Is it new?”

    “No, it’s not,” Spencer replied, walking into the kitchen, “and you know that chili is for later.”

    “Yes, I know. It’s for Ashley,” the brunette said, smugly.

    “No, it’s for everyone.”

    “Fine, when’s she getting here anyway? I’m starving.”

    “I don’t know. Fifteen minutes, maybe?” Spencer replied, feeling her heart drop to her feet all over again.

    As if Ashley wasn’t aware of her cue, the doorbell rang seconds later.

    “Or now,” Rachel said before making her way to the front door.

                Spencer busied herself with cleaning an already clean countertop, trying her best not to collapse. In less time then Spencer needed to prepare herself, in walked the two brunettes in her life. Ashley and Rachel finished up a conversation about the weather before they both turned to Spencer.

    “Hey,” Ashley said, offering her a small smile as if to say, “I know…”

    “Hi,” was all Spencer could manage.

    “So, I don’t know about you two, but I’m ready for chili,” Rachel said, grabbing a bowl.

               

     

     

                An hour and a half later, the three women sat around a nicely decorated dinner table drinking wine and sharing Spencer stories.

    1. You are pretty much amazing at making unexpected turns in a story! I spent last night reading all of your stories and i have to say that they’re amazing! Some of the best i’ve read! And i agree with everyone else at the end of this i was like WTF?! PMS!

    2. I’m not sure if I should be saying, “Poor Ashley..Now she has to deal with the fiancee and her ex..” Or “You lucky dog you, go Ash go!..” Amazing story altogether though, keep ’em coming!

    3. I knew it. As soon as I read “Ashley awoke to the sensation of warm fingers caressing her back.”, before I went to the next page, I was like I bet it’s Rachel. So I guess Ashley’s gonna kick her out of bed and try to tell Spencer, but Spencer’s gonna think she’s trying to sabotage her wedding and not believe her. That’s just my guess, but with how fantastical your mind works, I’m sure it’s not that simple. PMS Can’t wait to read what happens. Love ya mucho!! :)

    17. ok i have been reading this story from the begining and i thinks it is one of the best so far that i read. this is the first comment that i ever left anyone. i was shock to find out it was rachael who went it to ashley room i thought for sure it was spencer, anyway that was a good turn for hopefully up coming events. now i hope in ur next chapter you have pencer walking in a rach and ash then spencer could brake up with her and go back to ashley. can’t wait for the next chapter.
