    Ashley finally meets her replacement.

    “I’m sorry for crying,” Spencer said finally, the tears seeming to halt momentarily.

    “Why would you be sorry for crying? It’s ok.”

    “Rachel hates it. She thinks that it’s for people who can’t deal…people who are weak. And I guess I am.”

    “Spencer, you’re not weak. You’re scared, and trust me, no one comprehends fear more than I do. I’ve run from everything for as long as I can remember because I was scared of letting people in. Then there was you…I let you in and I don’t regret it—even now.”

    “I don’t regret it either. I’m in there to stay.”

    “Good…so should I help you clean any of this?” Ashley said, looking around at the huge mess in the kitchen.

    “No, it’s fine. I’ll get to it in the morning. You can…you can stay if you want. We have a little guestroom at the end of the hall.

    “Do you think that’s a good idea?” Ashley asked.

    “Come on, it’ll be fine.”

                With that, the two of them walked down the long hallway until they reached the room Spencer spoke of. The décor was classic and simple, the walls lined with framed black and white photographs of family and friends. The photo over the bed caught Ashley’s attention, her heart tightening in her chest. It was of her and Spencer in their tiny off-campus apartment years ago. Aiden had taken it and it had always been a favorite of theirs. Ashley was staring at the side of Spencer’s face while the blonde looked towards the camera. The look in Ashley’s eyes said everything the photograph could not.

    “I can’t believe you have this in here,” Ashley said, tempted to reach out and touch it.

    “Yeah, Rachel freaked at first, but then I convinced her I just liked the picture itself…that it had nothing to do with you.”

    “Oh.”

    “But of course, it does. It reminds me of a time when we were the only two that mattered…no one else, just us.”

    “It was perfect.”

    “Anyway, I’m off to bed. The bathroom is down the hall, second door on the left. If you need anything, let me know.”

    “Ok, great.”

    “Well, goodnight,” Spencer said, offering Ashley an awkward hug before exiting the room.

    “Goodnight.”

                Ashley closed the door softly before crawling into bed. Almost as soon as her head hit the pillow she was gone, allowing the gentle waves of sleep to remove her from reality.

     

     

                Two hours later, Ashley awoke to the sensation of warm fingers caressing her back. She tried to make out a face in the darkness of the room before realizing who it was.

    “Rachel?”

    1. You are pretty much amazing at making unexpected turns in a story! I spent last night reading all of your stories and i have to say that they’re amazing! Some of the best i’ve read! And i agree with everyone else at the end of this i was like WTF?! PMS!

    2. I’m not sure if I should be saying, “Poor Ashley..Now she has to deal with the fiancee and her ex..” Or “You lucky dog you, go Ash go!..” Amazing story altogether though, keep ’em coming!

    3. I knew it. As soon as I read “Ashley awoke to the sensation of warm fingers caressing her back.”, before I went to the next page, I was like I bet it’s Rachel. So I guess Ashley’s gonna kick her out of bed and try to tell Spencer, but Spencer’s gonna think she’s trying to sabotage her wedding and not believe her. That’s just my guess, but with how fantastical your mind works, I’m sure it’s not that simple. PMS Can’t wait to read what happens. Love ya mucho!! :)

    17. ok i have been reading this story from the begining and i thinks it is one of the best so far that i read. this is the first comment that i ever left anyone. i was shock to find out it was rachael who went it to ashley room i thought for sure it was spencer, anyway that was a good turn for hopefully up coming events. now i hope in ur next chapter you have pencer walking in a rach and ash then spencer could brake up with her and go back to ashley. can’t wait for the next chapter.
