    Author Notes:

    I just shut my eyes, take a deep breath and begin to tell her my story.

    She just says, “Oh.”

    I get dressed in a flash in some jeans and a black wife beater and bring her another ice back for her ribs and for her face. Her cheek is really turning black and blue. Looking at it is making my blood boil. I so want to start my interrogation now but I can’t. At least not yet. So I just put the ice on her and watch her grimace in pain making my stomach get into knots. After a couple of minutes I say softly, “I’m going now, sweetheart. Just stay in bed and I’ll be back in no time.”

    “Promise?” She asks softly

    I just grin, kiss her good cheek and say, “I promise, baby.”

    I then got up from the bed after I was satisfied she was comfortable and she had everything she might need. A glass of water on the night stand, ice packs, the remote to the TV in case she got bored.

    I quickly got her prescription, bought her a rib belt and bought us some breakfast at IHOP. I wasn’t sure what she’d like so I just bought her some pancakes, eggs and bacon, coffee and some orange juice. I had to make sure she ate before I gave her the prescription. I don’t want her to get a stomach ache on top of everything because of it.

    I’m feeling pretty good as I‘m walking up to my apartment door. I have everything to take care of her. Of course if the pain medication doesn’t work or if she begins to have difficulty breathing I’m going to drag to the hospital. Whether she wants to or not. When I open the door I’m completely taken a back what is unfolding in my living room. Ashley and Allison are standing there having what seems to be a heated conversation.

    “What the hell are you doing here?” Allison snaps

    “Umm…Spencer is helping me out.” Ashley stammers as she continues to cradle her right side

    “You really don’t have a chance with her you know?” Allison sneers

    “What the hell is that supposed to mean?” Ashley snaps back. Hmm..I like this. She’s defending herself from Allison’s stupidity and more importantly it seems like she doesn’t like the fact somebody is telling her she doesn’t have a chance with me. I definitely like that. It means I have hope.
