Seize the Day – (Chapter: Chapter 3)

"Thanks," Ashley answered with sheepish shrug. "I hope that’s a good thing." She added playfully.

"Nope," Spencer answered flatly. "It’s a great thing. Your father was a very attractive man, and believe me the apple didn’t fall far from the tree." Spencer answered as she quickly turned and faced Ashley with a seductive smile before turning her attention back to the road.

"Watch it Blondie." Ashley warned mischievously. "A smile like that would get a girl in trouble in LA.”

"Well than it’s a good thing I’m not in the company of some guy in LA."

No but you are in the company of a lesbian who has seduced her share of straight women. Ashley thought wickedly. “Or with some tattooed 300 pound biker butch." she added.

"Biker Butch?" Spencer furrowed her brow in confusion. "What is that?"

"Nevermind." Ashley mumbled, "Do you know what we’re having for dinner?" She asked neutrally.

"Probably hamburgers," Spencer guessed. “Unless my dad comes home early and makes something else.”

"Does your mom not cook well?”

Spencer shrugged. “She cooks okay, but it’s nothing compared to what my dad can do." Spencer chuckled lightly. “His dream is to open a 5 star restaurant someday.”

"Sounds nice.” She commented. “What does he do now?"

"He works as a mechanic at a car repair shop," Spencer responded. “They specialize in limos and get a lot of their business from big cities like New York.”

"They must be really good to get their business from big cities." Ashley inquired. "Your Dad must love working there."

"I don’t think so," Spencer commented softly. "Like I said he’s only interested in his restaurant."

"He must be saving up for it then. Does he save up any money" Ashley pried.

Spencer shifted in her seat. “No he doesn’t. That’s what I don’t understand. He’s constantly talking about his dream but doesn’t do anything about it." She paused. “It’s like he’s waiting for money to fall from the sky or something.”

Ashley grinned. “He’s going to be waiting along time.”

“He doesn’t seem to think so.” Spencer smiled. “So before we pull into the driveway is there anything I should to know about?”

    “Like what?”

"Are you allergic to anything?" Spencer asked in a serious tone. "My brother’s allergic to pineapples and almost died once after he had small slice. So we like to keep people alive by knowing what not to feed them."

"Nothing wrong with wanting to keep your guests alive." Ashley smiled. "Believe it or not, pineapples. It’s a strange thing that runs on my Dad’s side of the family."

"That is kind of strange," Spencer said softly. "Well on the bright side you won’t have to worry about pineapples being served tonight."

“I hope not.” She smiled. “I really don’t feel like dying tonight.”

“And we really don’t feel like killing you.” Spencer replied with a chuckle.

“Well than dinner should be a pleasant affair.” Ashley stated with more confidence than she really felt. God I hate meeting new people. She thought solemnly. Especially parents. She rolled her eyes. I dated Madison a whole month without once meeting her parents. I meet Spencer yesterday and I here I am sitting in her parent’s driveway.

“Are you ready to meet the Carlin’s?” Spencer asked as she opened the car door.

“As I’ll ever be.” Ashley muttered as she did the same.
